University of Pittsburgh Research Assistant Professor - Schluter Lab in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
Applications are invited for one non-tenured research position at the research assistant professor rank with a targeted start date of April 2025. This recruitment seeks an individual to develop an independent research program in neuroscience that leverages the strengths of ongoing research within the research group of Dr. Oliver Schlter in the Department of Neuroscience at the University of Pittsburgh http://www.neuroscience.pitt.edu/, and the extensive, impactful, and growing neuroscience community in Pittsburgh. Our integrative research environment is exemplified by the Center for Neuroscience at the University of Pittsburgh CNUP; https://www.cnup.pitt.edu/about, which bridges the University of Pittsburgh, the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, and Carnegie Mellon University. Successful candidates will be expected to contribute to the research mission of Dr. Oliver Schlter and establish an independent research program through their own funding, participate in teaching neuroscience to undergraduate and graduate students, and contribute to the interactive and collegial local neuroscience community.
The required qualifications are a doctoral degree, postdoctoral training in neuroscience or a related field, and a record of research excellence. Specific requirements include a published track record in molecular biology techniques, protein biochemistry, whole cell patch-clamp electrophysiology with quantitative assessment of silent synapses, and mouse newborn and adult brain surgery techniques. Desired qualifications include a record of teaching experience, a record of training undergraduate researchers, and an interest in contributing to the educational mission of the department and a desire to be part of an interactive community.
