Home Improvement Associate

Job Location: Achieva Main Office -- Pittsburgh, PA

We are looking for a well-rounded individual with experience in several aspects of residential and commercial repairs and remodeling. Work will be performed in Allegheny/ Westmoreland County areas & a company-provided vehicle will be available.

Position type:

• Full Time, $19-$21 per hour

Job Responsibilities -- Highlights

• Performs repairs and or maintenance to Achieva Facilities and equipment, including, but not limited to, basic carpentry, minor electrical, plumbing, Drywall repair, flooring, basic home repairs and some remodeling.
• Inspects facilities, facilities structures and appliances to resolve issues or concerns by performing maintenance as needed.
• Perform and recommend preventative maintenance at Achieva's facilities.
• Ensure safety of all our facilities and perform work safely.
• Complete work tasks in a timely manner and leave all areas clean.
• Capable of working independently and with teams on projects.
• Promote a positive and inclusive team environment.
• Work with staff and coworkers showing respect and understanding.
• Understand the importance of repairs that need done for community homes.
• Available for after hours emergencies as needed.
• Provide training to Achieva Program Staff for general home related issues such as Replacing batteries in smoke detectors, checking a circuit breaker, Resetting GFI outlets, locating water and gas valves for emergency use, etc.
• Submit requests for supplies and equipment. Orders and purchases necessities as needed.
• Assist with larger projects and renovations.

Minimum requirements:

• Highschool diploma or the equivalent
• Six months or more experience
• MUST HAVE: Valid Driver's License
• Must be able to pass a PA criminal background check, FBI fingerprint, and child abuse clearances
• Able to use a computer for email and applying the maintenance software
• Able to calculate ordering quantities to complete home remodeling or repairs
• Able to lift, carry tools and furniture
• Ability to climb ladders and dig holes

Additional Knowledge a plus:

• Knowledge of Emaint software system or related work order system preferred
• Computer knowledge

Six plus months of building trades experience. Shown understanding and knowledge of basic carpentry plumbing, electrical, mechanical systems, and small appliances. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to connect with the agency and vendor personnel. Valid license to drive in the State of Pennsylvania and satisfactory driving record is vital. Must meet Act 33 and 34 requirements.
