Meta Codec Avatars Software Engineer in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

Summary:

On the Codec Avatars Systems team, you’ll build tools, libraries, frameworks, and systems that capture, organize, and deliver data for research towards the generation of Codec Avatars.Our team cultivates an honest and considerate environment where self-motivated individuals thrive. As a Software Engineer on the Codec Avatars Systems team, you will help generate viable paths to the consumer products that will connect people in meaningful ways for decades to come.

Required Skills:

Codec Avatars Software Engineer Responsibilities:

  1. Build tools, platforms, infrastructure and documentation that enable more efficient and effective research

  2. Build tools to help solve large scale data management problems used to build distributed datasets within the lab

  3. Write clean readable code, debug complex problems that span systems, understand priorities and fulfill project needs efficiently

  4. Collaborate in a diverse team environment across multiple scientific and engineering disciplines, making the architectural tradeoffs required to rapidly deliver software solutions

  5. Learn constantly, build with inclusion as a core value, dive into new areas with unfamiliar technologies, and embrace the ambiguity of AR/VR problem solving

  6. Build a community of researchers and developers by sharing software engineering best practices, tips and techniques

  7. Develop robust processes for testing changes to ensure safe deployment in live systems

  8. Collaborate with our user studies team to understand common failure cases, ascertain root causes, and improve the data research platform experience

Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience.

  2. 5+ years of Python and C++ experience, including modern C++ features and techniques

  3. Experience with cameras and optical systems, lighting systems, and audio systems

  4. Experience with real world data intensive system building and data collection, including design, coding (C++/Python) and evaluation (C++/Python)

  5. Experience with software development practices such as source control, code reviews, unit testing, debugging and profiling

  6. Experience with Linux and command line utilities

  7. Proven collaborator with effective communication skills across teams of varying knowledge of components

  8. Proven track record of shipping software

  9. Experience working independently and in highly dynamic environments

  10. Experience developing performant software and systems

  11. Experience developing APIs, SDKs and developer tools

  1. Experience developing and managing large scale-distributed systems

  4. Experience with software development and debugging on Windows and Linux

  5. Experience with real-time communication and inter-process communication

  6. Experience developing software for Machine Learning, Computer Graphics, Computer Vision, or Robotics applications

  7. Experience developing GUI applications and Qt library

  8. Experience developing AR/VR applications

  9. Experience with deployment tooling, deployment management, feature gating, feature management, and release management

Public Compensation:

$146,994/year to $208,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
