The National Institute for Materials Advancement (NIMA) at Pittsburg State University is searching for a Student Research Manager to manage all the student research activities, including advising and helping write research articles; provide lab maintenance, follow safety rules, provide training to students, keep detailed records in a lab notebook, maintain routine calibration to instruments, manage chemical waste, write manuscripts based on the results; and assist with proposal writing for external funding. .
Duties and Responsibilities
50%-Project Management:
- Oversee and manage all student research activities within the lab.
- Coordinate and allocate resources for various research projects.
- Ensure projects are progressing according to timelines and objectives.
25%- Student Advising and Support:
- Advise students on research methodologies, experimental design, and data analysis.
- Provide guidance and support to students in the development of their research skills.
- Help students write manuscripts/reports/ thesis based on specific research data.
- Foster a collaborative and productive research environment.
15% - Laboratory and Technical Management
- Perform routine maintenance of scientific instruments and upkeep of analytical and testing laboratories.
- Mentor students for analytical training.
- Manage booths at conferences and trade shows
- Participate in recruitment events
- Serve on committees
10% - Other duties as assigned
