SHI IDCS Build Specialist in Piscataway, New Jersey
Job Summary
As an IDCS Build Specialist, you'll be at the heart of the action, masterfully assembling data center racks that include servers, networking devices, storage, cables, and other high-tech equipment. You won't just be a technician; you'll be a pioneer in integrating hardware to bring our customers' unique data center solutions to life! The IDCS Build Specialist reports to the IDCS Lead Build Specialist and works out of the SHI Ridge office in Piscataway, NJ.

Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Read and comprehend technical manuals, troubleshooting guides, manufacturer's specifications, and equipment displays/monitors.
Follow detailed oral and written instructions in the installation/removal of equipment.
Monitoring the staging area with a focus on organization and priority.
Identifying and addressing any staging and picking discrepancies. .
Performing all requisite order check-ins and status updates in Microsoft AX, Airtable, Build Team checklists, and other IDCS tracking applications.
Verify all parts on an order in staging against the associated pick ticket. Also, verifying the items match the customer's Bill of Materials (BoM)
Coordinate with warehouse staff to resolve order-picking discrepancies.
Notify the Lead and/or Managers of missing parts received. Confirming there is no outstanding equipment needed
Install components into the rack following the rack elevation diagram.
Print labels that will be applied to power and network cables.
Install cables and labels as documented in the runbook.
Manage firmware versions and licensing for customer devices as determined by build documentation.
Capture and merge data and post to internal systems.
Updating Build Planner or order tracking tool with current statuses in real-time.
Collaborate and work efficiently with other team members on all job tasks.
Provide creative, out-of-the-box solutions to challenging problems while maintaining mindfulness towards minimizing risk and ensuring project timelines.
Troubleshooting DOA equipment and report findings to a Lead or Manager.
Make support calls to vender to open tickets for failed components and/or troubleshooting software.
Acquire additional skills to maintain technical competencies.
Qualifications
Associates Degree in Computer Science related field, or Technical certifications such as A+ or Server+ or relevant work experience required
Minimum 1 year experience working with a team that focused on a common rack integration project or build

Preferred Qualifications/Skills:
Knowledge of SHI configuration and warehouse processes
Knowledge of servers, storage, networking, and associated debugging skills
Knowledge of AX, specifically config check-in / check-out and order processing.
Ability to read and understand cable matrix.
Structured cable routing experience.
Required to learn how to use the label printing software.
Significant physical demands. Regularly tasked with heavy lifting.
Basic understanding of IP Addressing concepts.
Stay current on how to use the label printing software.
Understanding of Video Capturing software.
Unique Requirements
May be required to work onsite in the customer data center
May be required to stoop, bend, kneel and squat for extended periods of time
May be required to lift and move items up to 50 pounds
May be required to work over time
Additional Information
The estimated annual pay range for this position is $40,000 - $75,000. The compensation for this position is dependent on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and market location and, therefore, will vary from individual to individual. Benefits may include, but are not limited to, medical, vision, dental, 401K, and flexible spending.
