Honeywell Datalink is an aircraft data services communication platform. It represents a significant advancement in aviation data connectivity, designed to enhance flight operations and improve efficiency for pilots, operators, and airlines by leveraging data connectivity in real-time.
Honeywell Datalink provides real-time data exchange between the aircraft and ground operations, allowing for real-time access to critical information during flight. Real-time data access enables pilots to make informed decisions quickly, adapting to dynamic conditions as they arise.
The platform is designed to seamlessly integrate with various avionics systems and flight planning tools, ensuring that pilots and operators can utilize existing systems while benefitting from the additional data services.
As a Sr Advanced Software Engineer within our Communications, Navigation, and Surveillance (CN&S) organization, you will be responsible for developing and implementing advanced software solutions for Aircraft Data Communications technologies. Our Aircraft Datalink products play a crucial role in enabling seamless communication and data exchange between aircraft cockpit and ground systems and communication networks.
You will report directly to our Senior Engineering Manager and you'll work out of our Deer Valley, Arizona location on a hybrid work schedule.
Key Responsibilities
You will work on cutting-edge projects and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software solutions that enhance the performance and safety of aircraft systems. You will work on projects that involve advanced algorithms, data analytics, and real-time systems. Your work will directly impact the efficiency and reliability of our products, as well as deploying new products and functions that enhance safety within the aviation industry, ensuring the highest level of quality and customer satisfaction.
Develop and deliver advanced software solutions for aircraft data communication and flight management systems.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define project requirements
Contribute to the development of innovative high-level embedded software solutions
Able to independently manage and lead mid-size projects from start to finish
Strong knowledge of Software lifecycle and Certification aspects of SW components.
Able to decompose high-level systems requirements into software requirements.
Ensure the highest level of quality and customer satisfaction in software deliverable
Create, maintain and qualify software development and verification tools.
U.S. PERSON REQUIREMENTS
Due to compliance with U.S. export control laws and regulations, candidate must be a U.S. Person, which is defined as, a U.S. citizen, a U.S. permanent resident, or have protected status in the U.S. under asylum or refugee status or have the ability to obtain an export authorization
YOU MUST HAVE
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as computer science, software engineering, or a related field
5+ years of experience in software development for embedded products
Proficiency in programming languages such as C++, Python, etc
WE VALUE
Master's degree in Computer Science or related field
Experience in developing software for aerospace or safety-critical systems is of value.
Familiarity with high-level embedded software development and real-time operating systems (RTOS)
Experience developing software for Flight Management (FMS), Aircraft Data, Communications or related aircraft applications is a plus.
Knowledge of version control systems, specifically Git / Bitbucket.
Strong understanding of DO-178, RTCA and ARINC industry standards is of value.
Strong understanding of DOORS or similar requirements management system.
Knowledge of advanced algorithms and data analytics is of value
Able to read and write specifications to create software requirements.
