Honeywell Sr Advanced Mechanical Design- Engineer - Gas Turbine in Phoenix, Arizona
As a Sr Advanced Mechanical Design Engineer here at Honeywell, you will play a crucial role in providing advanced mechanical design expertise to support the Integrated Supply Chain (ISC) organization. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop innovative mechanical designs and solutions. With your strong technical skills and expertise, you will contribute to the development and implementation of mechanical design strategies to drive continuous improvement. Your ability to translate complex design requirements into practical solutions will be key in ensuring product quality and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
The Sr Advanced engineer position will be responsible to provide technical direction for all evaluations performed on static structural components and systems for a team of Structures Engineers supporting Production, Supplier Transition and Value Engineering initiatives, including Quality (FAIR, RMRAs, QNs), Drawing Interpretation, Supplier substantiation (ESA, STICS, STR, FTR, SCS), and Design Change (ECN, EMA, Deviation Waiver) Processes.
The Structures Sr Advanced mechanical engineer must be adept at performing a functional evaluation (Identification of Loads, Environment, Requirements) across multiple engine models and part families. He will be responsible for conducting strength, vibration, fatigue, containment, heat transfer, deflection, and clearance evaluations. In addition, he may be responsible for tracking team assignments and reporting results and status.
The applicant must be an effective leader able to thrive in an Agile environment and successfully work with local and global analysis teams, create statements of work, review analysis output, and communicate effectively with manufacturing personnel, suppliers, customers, and Chief engineers.
Driving process transformation to reduce design and manufacturing cost and cycle time is an important aspect of the position.

YOU MUST HAVE
- Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering and a minimum of 7 years of experience in the field or in a related area.
WE VALUE
The ability to prioritize and adjust to constantly changing assignment requests.
System-level understanding of a gas turbine engine.
Understanding of aerospace manufacturing processes and requirements including casting, machining, welding, heat treatment.
Strong Drawing Interpretation skills, including GD&T.
Knowledge of the gas turbine engine industry, specifically in regard to how the design requirements are communicated and maintained in production, through the following processes:
Quality Processes, including inspection methodologies, FAIR & RMRA review.
Supplier Substantiation Processes, including ESA, STICS, STR, FTR, SCS documentation.
Design Change Processes, including ECNs, EMAs, etc.
Proven understanding and application of solid mechanics, dynamics, fatigue, and finite element analysis
Capability of performing complex analyses and hand calculations of engine components and systems
Excellent communication skills (written and oral) to interact with engineering teams, other disciplines, and external (supplier or customer) parties.
FEA (ANSYS or equivalent), 3D modeling (CAD), and GOM analysis (Structured light scan) of gas turbine engine static structures and systems.
