Actalent Distribution Designer in Phoenix, Arizona
Job Title: Distribution DesignerJob Description
We are seeking a talented Distribution Designer to join our team, supporting our Phoenix office, with the option to work full-time out of our Tucson office if located there. As part of the Distribution Group, you will prepare structural and electrical designs for energy infrastructure projects, collaborating with engineers and consultants to create designs for high voltage equipment, structures, foundations, and electrical schematics for both overhead and underground distribution.
Responsibilities
Design and develop all engineering products and deliverables related to distribution.
Collaborate with engineers and other drafters to correct discrepancies in drawings and designs.
Create distribution layout, sections, structural and foundation details, bill of materials, electrical schematics, and wiring diagrams.
Update documentation including checklists, drawing lists, conduit schedules, circuit schedules, drawing requests, and project tracking primarily using Microsoft Excel and Word.
Self-check all work to ensure accuracy before submission for review.
Understand and meet project schedule and quality requirements.
Complete drawings accurately and efficiently.
Maintain a detailed and quality-oriented approach.
Manage multiple projects concurrently and adapt to changes in work assignments.
Actively assist in project delivery, including communication through phone or email, attending meetings, and handling project documents.
Provide interdepartmental support as needed.
Essential Skills
Proficient in AutoCAD.
At least 3 years of design experience, including 2 consecutive years of distribution experience.
Ability to utilize both 2D and 3D applications for engineering drawings.
Basic knowledge of design, calculations, and design systems.
Familiarity with overhead and underground distribution systems.
Basic understanding of engineering discipline theories and practices.
Competence in related discipline design software.
Collaborative skills for working in a multi-discipline project team environment.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience with Microstation.
Experience with AUD.
Experience with Inventor.
Understanding of terms like base mapping, right of way, etc.
Work Environment
Our work environment is dynamic and collaborative, with a team of seven designers currently in the distribution design team. Expect to work in the office up to five days a week, located in downtown Phoenix, or in Tucson if residing in that area. Our culture is outgoing, celebrating both personal and professional milestones. We offer a 0-2 year training plan for new hires, focusing on extensive training in the first year and increased project involvement in the second year. There are four levels of drafting/design progression, each with corresponding pay increases. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $32.00 - $38.00/hr.
