Responsibilities

SUMMARY - The Chief Physicist is a member of the multidisciplinary Radiation Services team who works closely with the Department Manager to ensure standards, processes and practices are in place

for the delivery of safe, effective and efficient radiation as prescribed in patient care. The Chief Physicist performs or supervises the technical aspects of procedures necessary to achieve this objective including but not limited to, protection of the patient and others from potentially harmful or excessive radiation; establishment of adequate protocols to ensure accurate patient dosimetry; the measurement and characterization of radiation; the determination of delivered dose; development and direction of quality assurance programs. The Chief Physicist works closely with the physics team and all other health care professionals in optimizing the balance between the beneficial and deleterious effects of radiation; and compliance with applicable federal and state regulations.

Qualifications

MINIMUM

Masters Degree MSc, DABR

10 years of clinical medical physics experience

Certified by the American Board of Radiology

Excellent computer skills and knowledge of ARIA and radiation-specific applications required.

TrueBeam, CyberKnife, HDR required.

PREFERRED

Ph.D in medical physics.

15 years of clinical medical physics experience and 3-5 years supervisory experience preferred.

TrueBeam, CyberKnife, HDR and GammaKnife training preferred.

Pay Range

$88.46 - $141.54 /hour
