Note: This position is only open to Arizona residents.

What you will do:

  • Analyze data for the preparation of budgets, departmental performance, and project/initiative viability.

  • Assist with the gathering of data from various sources and update various weekly/monthly/quarterly/annual tracking reports.

  • Answer questions/queries from department managers in formulating their budget submissions.

  • Assist department managers in formulating budget submissions for accuracy and all relevant data for inclusion.

  • Review proposed budget submissions from department managers for accuracy and completeness.

  • Examine whether budget submissions can be achieved based on known capacity constraints and prepare required ROI analysis for recommendation.

  • Prepare succinct summary to present to management of potential problem areas.

  • Compare actual to budgeted results at the end of each reporting period, and report on significant variances.

  • Assist with the maintenance and updates of data in the budget system (Host Analytics).

  • Compare data housed in the various university systems to ensure accuracy.

  • Compile data from various internal and external sources for departmental use in analysis projects.

  • Ad hoc analysis as required.

What you will have:

  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Excel (advanced financial formulas) Computer proficiency with other MS Office Suite software

  • Highly detail oriented

  • Strong analytical skills to identify discrepancies, trends and financial outliers.

  • Ability to utilize software application reporting for analysis and put in format which facilitates meaningful understanding.

  • Good understanding of end to end business processes.

  • Must be able to work independently to achieve timelines.

  • Ability to question critically to identify potential problem areas in departments budgeting or expense control.

  • Ability to organize work to achieve time sensitive goals.

  • Ability to work effectively and cooperatively with staff and management.

  • Ability to communicate succinctly and effectively with a diverse population, including all levels of management both verbally and in written documentation.

  • Must pass a pre-employment background investigation.

  • Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution in accounting or finance.

  • Minimum of one year work experience in accounting or financial reporting related work.
