As our country expanded, so did the need to supply growing cities with clean water and safely remove wastewater. Our location history starts in 1865 when Warren Foundry and Machine Company casted stoves, steam engines, mill gearing and other foundry related items. Currently we specialize in the casting of iron ductile pipes that range from 3" to 24" in diameter.

Job DescriptionThe Machinist A position is responsible for fabricating, modifying, and repairing machine tools and molds to support the Casting Department. This role involves machining, welding, peening, and quality inspection of molds used in ductile iron pipe manufacturing. The machinist must apply advanced knowledge of mechanics, shop mathematics, metal properties, layout, and machining procedures to ensure precision and efficiency.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Operate lathes, mills, grinders, and other machining equipment to manufacture, repair, and modify molds and production components.
- Read and interpret blueprints, work orders, engineering drawings, and technical specifications to ensure precision machining.
- Calculate dimensions and tolerances using micrometers, vernier calipers, and other precision measuring tools.
- Perform functional and visual quality inspections to detect defects and ensure conformance to specifications.
- Set up, adjust, and operate basic and advanced machine tools for precision machining operations.
- Align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, and materials onto machines.
- Monitor the feed and speed of machines during operation to maintain accuracy.
- Work with Maintenance and Engineering teams to design, fabricate, and modify custom components such as shafts, fixtures, and production parts.
- Conduct mold reconditioning operations, including machining, welding, and peening as needed.
- Perform routine and preventive maintenance on machining equipment to ensure optimal performance.
- Troubleshoot and resolve machining and mold issues with minimal supervision.
- Ensure work areas are clean, organized, and compliant with safety regulations.
- Adhere to Lockout/Tagout procedures when performing maintenance or machine adjustments.
- Maintain accurate documentation of work performed, including production logs and quality reports.
- Assist in training less experienced machinists as needed.

- Technical Skills: Proficiency in machining techniques, troubleshooting, and equipment operation.
- Blueprint Reading: Ability to interpret engineering drawings and apply specifications to machining processes.
- Schematics: Ability to read
- Attention to Detail: Strong ability to measure, inspect, and ensure accuracy in all machined components.
- Mathematical Skills: Strong understanding of machining calculations, tolerances, and geometric principles.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to identify machining issues and implement corrective actions.
- Self-Sufficiency: Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while meeting deadlines.
Teamwork: Ability to collaborate with coworkers, maintenance, and engineering teams to achieve production goals
Physical Demands:
- Regularly required to stand, use hands/fingers, and handle materials.
- Frequently required to walk, talk, and listen.
- Occasionally required to kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Must regularly lift up to 10 lbs, frequently lift up to 25 lbs, and occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
- Specific vision abilities required: close vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
- Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Experience: 2-3 years of machining experience, preferably in mold, casting, or industrial manufacturing environments.
- Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with machining techniques, tooling, and metal properties.
- Computer Skills: Ability to use machine interface systems, CAD/CAM software, and production tracking software.
- Language Skills: Ability to read, interpret, and communicate work instructions and safety regulations.
- Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply logical problem-solving skills in both standard and unexpected situations.
