We are currently seeking to fill our Maintenance Mechanic position at the Generic Location campus with a highly qualified and passionate individual.

Job Title: Maintenance Mechanic Department: Maintenance and Utilities Primary Location: Philadelphia Employment Type: Full-time, Non-Exempt Position Summary: Under general supervision, perform maintenance and repair work on PCOM facilities and buildings at both the campus and satellite locations. The work involves various trades and skills including rough and finished carpentry, electrical, plumbing, painting, roofing, locksmithing, and masonry. The role requires both independent work and collaboration within a team for larger projects. Maintenance mechanics are responsible for choosing appropriate work methods and materials for completing work orders in compliance with building codes and ADA regulations. Work orders will be assigned orally or through the work order system. This position reports to the maintenance supervisor. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: *Perform skilled maintenance and repair work on campus facilities. *Carry out rough and finish carpentry tasks such as constructing walls, installing doors and cabinets, drop ceiling grid installation, ceiling tile installation, and trim work. *Handle drywall repairs and plastering up to a level 5 finish. *Install and repair electrical devices including outlets, switches, ballasts, motors, and light fixtures. *Undertake installation and repair of plumbing assemblies for water and drainage systems. *Conduct minor masonry repairs on brick, stone, concrete, and stucco surfaces. *Perform repairs on door lock assemblies, hinges, and closers. *Address minor roof repairs on shingles, EPDM, and MSR roofing systems. *Handle installations and repairs of flooring materials such as carpet tiles and VCT. *Perform minor furniture repairs. *Finish various surfaces through activities like painting, staining, and polishing. *Assemble furniture as needed. *Assist in setting up for significant events. *Carry out preventative maintenance tasks and inspections as directed by the supervisor. *Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe work area. *Perform other assigned duties. Ability to: *Calculate required materials. *Read and interpret blueprints and schematics. *Work from ladders, scaffolding, lifts, and rooftops at heights of up to 90 feet. *Work effectively in confined spaces. *Properly use hand tools, power tools, and shop equipment. *Work safely, ensuring the safety of oneself and others. *Lift and move items weighing between 50 to 100 pounds. Knowledge: *Methods, practices, tools, and materials used in building maintenance and repair. *Occupational hazards and necessary safety precautions applicable to building maintenance work. Skills: *Proficient use and maintenance of hand tools, power tools, and required shop equipment for building maintenance and repair work. Training and Education: *High school diploma or GED. *Minimum of 1 year of experience in building maintenance or a relevant trade. *Preferred certification or license in a specific trade. *Valid driver's license with a safe driving record. Physical Requirements: *Ability to work in extreme temperatures (below freezing and over 100F). *Frequent prolonged standing and walking. *Considerable reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, and crouching. *Ability to move heavy items weighing 50 to 100 pounds. *Comfortable working at heights of up to 90 feet. *Comfortable working in confined spaces. *Capable of climbing ladders and scaffolding. Work Environment: *Exposure to varying weather conditions, including below-freezing temperatures and over 100F heat, as well as rain, snow, and ice. *Potential electrical hazards. *Interaction with moving mechanical parts. *Exposure to hazardous materials and chemicals, such as formaldehyde, corrosives, and biohazards.

Salary Range: $21.33 - $28.14

The referenced salary range is based on PCOM good faith belief at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as geographic location, work experience, market conditions, education/training and skill level.
