Job Description
General Purpose:
SEMO Tank (a wholly owned subsidiary of Dairy Farmers of America) sells, leases, and repairs tank trailers and offers a vast inventory of related parts for resale. The Cycle Count/Material Control Specialist is responsible for executing and maintaining an accurate cycle counting program to ensure inventory integrity. This role includes performing daily cycle counts per the ABC schedule, troubleshooting inventory discrepancies, and collaborating with Accounting and Purchasing to maintain ERP accuracy. The Cycle Counter also supports warehouse operations, enforces proper storage and labeling practices, and helps develop SOPs for inventory control. Additionally, they provide support to affiliate locations, recommend process improvements, and uphold safety and compliance standards.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist the Purchasing & Inventory Manager to implement, establish, and sustain cycle counting program
Ensure the yearly, quarterly, and monthly ABC cycle count schedule is updated and visibly posted in designated work areas to keep all employees informed.
Properly section off designated cycle count areas using clearly marked signage to prevent inventory movement and maintain count accuracy.
Execute cycle counts daily per ABC Classification schedule to ensure cycle count schedule is performed as required
Use SAP to initiate cycle counts and work in conjunction with the Accounting team to post discrepancies daily to maintain accurate ERP system inventory
Ensure all cycle count results are documented and reported to relevant departments, identifying trends in inventory discrepancies
Support and utilize the processes put in place to maintain accurate and sufficient inventory levels
Work in conjunction with the Purchasing & Inventory Manager to identify and correct inventory inaccuracies
Troubleshoot causes of inventory discrepancies and actively work to problem-solve and revise cycle count process inefficiencies
Execute Master Data update requests as directed by the Purchasing & Inventory Manager
Support and assist affiliate locations with cycle count questions and troubleshooting
Assist in implementing and maintaining a 5S organizational strategy within inventory storage areas
Recommend process improvements to enhance inventory control and reduce variances
Monitor and enforce proper storage and labeling practices to support accurate inventory tracking
Assist warehouse team with pulling and staging parts for future shop jobs
Assist warehouse team with pulling and packing parts for affiliate transfer orders
Assist warehouse team in locating and delivering parts to the appropriate areas within the company
Ensure a suitable, timely process is executed for shop job material processing improvements
Help develop and maintain clear, up-to-date SOPs for cycle counting and inventory control best practices.
Complete other job duties as assigned.

Requirements
Education and Experience
High School Diploma or GED required
1 to 2 years of inventory/cycle counting, warehouse, administrative or related experience required
Experience using a barcode scanner in a warehouse setting preferred
SAP or other ERP system experience preferred
Certification and/or license – N/A
