THE POSITION

The Department of Corrections is seeking a qualified individual to take on the role of Purchasing Agent for the Northwest Regional Purchasing Group. This group is tasked with managing the acquisition of supplies, materials, equipment, and services for several facilities, including SCI's Albion, Mercer, Cambridge Springs, Houtzdale, and the Quehanna Boot Camp. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In the role of Purchasing Agent, you will engage in specialized purchasing activities for the Department of Corrections (DOC). This position focuses on the regular acquisition of supplies and services for the Northwest Region, which includes facilities such as SCI Albion, Mercer, Cambridge Springs, Houtzdale, and Quehanna Boot Camp.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 37.5 hour work week

  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.

  • Telework: After successful completion of a probationary period, you may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to 3 days per week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to SCI Albion or SCI Mercer.

  • Work Location: To be determined based on availability and applicant's location. The available locations are SCI Albion located at 10745 Route 18, Albion, PA 16475 or SCI Mercer located at 801 Butler Pike, Mercer, PA 16137.

  • Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $44,890 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Three years of experience in purchasing work involving contact with vendors in the procurement of a variety of supplies, materials, equipment, or services; or

  • Three years of experience in requisitioning, receiving, storing, distributing, and maintaining inventory of goods; or

  • An equivalent combination of experience and training. Post-high school education may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for purchasing or stores experience to a maximum of two years.

    Additional Requirements:

  • Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

  • You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
