THE POSITION

The Department of Military and Veterans Affairs (DMVA), Hollidaysburg Veterans' Home is searching for a hard-working and compassionate part-time Food Service Worker 1 to provide food service work for our facility. We are looking for someone who can follow established food safety and sanitation guidelines, read, and interpret tray tickets, and maintain knowledge of special diets. DESCRIPTION OF WORK
Our Food Service Workers work together as a team to provide a seamless flow of patient meal production and service. Food Service Worker 1s are trained in cleaning and sanitizing equipment, utensils, dishes, pots, pans, work surfaces, and other kitchen items; preparing trays, measuring portions, serving food, and transporting trays, carts and nourishments; and using equipment such as mixers, dicers, slicers, knives, and grinders. We foster teamwork, open communication, and positive attitudes. Our staff takes pride in the meals we serve, and we strive to ensure resident meal satisfaction.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
Part-time employment, Float Schedule, 20-hour work week
Work hours are 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM, or 12:00 PM to 8:30 PM with 30-minute lunch; and 4:30 PM to 8:30 PM with a 15-minute break; rotating shifts and days off to be determined.
Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

Preferred Qualifications (not required):
Previous food service worker experience
Food service experience in an assisted living facility, nursing home, hospital, restaurant, or other food service operation
Experience interacting with patients, residents, or customers while serving food/cleaning in patient/resident rooms or a dining room setting
Work experience with food safety and sanitation in a dietary department
Legal Requirements:
A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
