THE POSITION

Are you an experienced professional in highway design who has a desire to advance your career with PennDOT? The Bureau of Construction and Materials is in search of a Civil Engineer Manager (Transportation) to act as a liaison between several bureaus and engineering districts regarding highway engineering CADD programs. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this position, you will manage the Highway CADD Services Section and provide engineering as well as technical expertise in the configuration, support, and troubleshooting of engineering design applications. You will participate in testing and remediation activities for software updates, develop schedules for implementation, and identify CADD training needs, which will allow you to develop and deliver training programs. Additionally, you will participate in special committees as a subject matter expert and provide expertise to ensure that project, program, and process needs are met.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment

  • Work hours are 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 60-minute lunch.

  • This position may be eligible for alternate work schedule.

  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg.

  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Four years of professional civil engineering experience which includes three years in the appropriate specialty and one year of experience in directing the work of civil engineers.

Special Requirement:

  • Possession of a valid Professional Engineer license issued by the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists.

Post Employment Requirement:

  • For the Bridges and Transportation parentheticals, successful candidates with an out of state Professional Engineer license will be required to produce a valid Professional Engineer License issued by Pennsylvania within their initial six month probationary period.

    Other Requirements:

  • PA residency requirement (https://www.employment.pa.gov/Additional%20Info/Pages/default.aspx) is currently waived for this title.
