Description AMPI owns seven Midwest-based manufacturing plants where 10 percent of the nation's American-type cheese, processed cheese and butter is produced. The cooperative's award-winning cheese, butter and powdered dairy products are marketed to foodservice, retail and food ingredient customers. In 2019, the co-op launched its Dinner Bell Creamery brand and accompanying Co-op Crafted promise, highlighting more than 50 years of dairy farm families partnering with skilled buttermakers and cheesemakers. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES All AMPI employees have an obligation to report employee safety, food safety and food quality issues to personnel of authority. This position has a heightened food safety and food quality responsibilities. Assists with overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of cheese production operations. Carries out first line supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Communicate production expectations with workers; ensuring goals are met on a day to day basis. Ensure processing equipment setups are completed in the timeframe required to meet department expectations and productivity. Work jointly with maintenance to identify equipment issues to improve machine efficiency. Maintain good housekeeping and cleanup of equipment, keeping work areas organized. Monitor accuracy and maintain proper documentation in all formats of recordkeeping. Compiles data and completes production reports accurately. Manages competing demands and changes approach or method to best fit the situation. Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner by gathering and analyzing information skillfully. Works well in group problem solving situations and develops alternative solutions. Creates a positive team with the ability to build morale and group commitments to goals and objectives. Ability to react well under pressure. Treats others with respect and consideration regardless of their status or position. Accepts responsibility for own actions and follows through on commitments. Ensure internal customer specifications are maintained. Maintain good housekeeping and cleanup of equipment and supplies in working environment. Responsible for department inspections. Monitors procedures and working conditions that could result in product contamination or excessive waste. Trained to start up, shut down, Clean in Place (CIP), and troubleshoot equipment to provide break relief and effectively train employees. Document and communicate production deficiencies to management. Report and communicate critical information during shift change overs. Continuously look for process improvement opportunities and effectively communicate to others. Understand and ensure operating and cleaning procedures for equipment are met daily. Ensure preventative maintenance and master sanitation tasks are completed and documented as assigned. Adhere to all Quality and Food Safety policies and procedures, reporting any nonconformity. Adhere to all Safety policies and procedures, reporting any nonconformity. Adhere to all GMP policies and procedures, reporting any nonconformity. Other duties as assigned. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required. One to three years relevant work experience preferred.
