Position Summary
CVS is seeking an Operational Excellence leader for our Patterson, CA location. This role is a key member of the team to lead and drive projects and culture to improve safety, quality, delivery, and productivity of the operations. In this role, you will be responsible for continuous improvement initiatives to drive gains in the key KPIs at the facility. Some specific responsibilities will be maintaining labor management systems (LMS), lean implementation, and process design/improvement. You will be the glue between operations, network optimization, and automation to drive a clear vision together to improve the value stream.
*Core hours are M-F, 6:00am-4:00pm PST*
*Role will be expected to travel up to 10% to other DC’s*
• Safety, Quality & Delivery: This role will be responsible for delivering capacity improvements to the operations by identifying and executing kaizens to remove bottlenecks, increase storage density, and ultimately meet customer demand. Responsible for identifying and improving safety at the site through use of technology, layout, improved ergonomics, and process. Responsible for helping to deliver world class quality by supporting sites with problem solving techniques for root cause analysis.
• Process Engineering: Applies engineering methodologies/tools such as product slotting, studying labor standards (time studies and MOST analysis), layouts and optimization of flow, and resource modeling to improve processes and drive waste reduction for distribution and inventory control operations. Help lead and contribute to site strategy and execution of process improvement initiatives with a primary focus on picking operations, replenishment setup to minimize travel, and JIT inventory replenishment to drive higher throughput.
• Lean: This role will be the site expert in lean manufacturing and will support the team to meet business objectives. Manages and completes high impact CI projects across the operation that lead to improved business results. Assesses CI initiatives and provides input and recommendations on future activities. Demonstrate a high level of competency in wide range of lean tools. Coaches employees in the use and implementation of CI & Lean principles. Support facilitation and execution Kaizen Events through all stages (A3 charter ideation/creation, pre-work identification and completion, delivery of results in Kaizen week, regular follow up and follow through on sustainment). Improving effectiveness of tier meetings, establishing/improving standard work, value stream mapping, creating a shared vision, implementing poke-yoke, and coaching process owners on how to use lean methods to achieve operational excellence.
• Data Engineering: Contribute or lead changes and projects related to data engineering adding data collection where not present. Translate and simplify data to aid in decision making and problem solving including, but not limited to, improved traceability, performance dashboards, performance reports, or Andon/escalation systems at the site. Will strongly use data to support and drive process and performance management decisions with the operations team. Responsible for maintaining standards to drive informed decision making.
• Project & Change Management: The individual will be responsible for planning and executing multiple projects at the same time and utilize good project management skills by managing risk and understanding critical path and dependencies to meet project goals on time. Possess a healthy curiosity about processes to see opportunities for improvement and put together a financial business case and project plan to initiate the change. Support operations with successful change management strategies to implement and sustain changes.
• Automation: Contribute to the requirements specification development of automation improvements to the facility with implementation of key process technologies including but not limited to AMR/AGV, sortation systems, and picking systems (PTL/PTV), packaging systems, and other poke-yoke controls.
Required Qualifications
3+ years experience in a manufacturing or distribution center environment
1+ years experience managing projects and change management
1+ years experience in Lean Manufacturing Concepts
Experience with standards based time and motion study systems such as MOST and MTM
1+ years advanced Excel experience (Pivots, etc.) and other MS office
Preferred Qualifications
5+ years experience in a manufacturing or distribution center environment with 3+ as continuous improvement, industrial engineering, or process engineering
WMS, ERP, MES, or LMS systems and database structure experience
Manhattan or INFOR WMS system experience
PowerBI or Tableau dashboard creation experience
Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certification or similar
Create project budgets and financial justifications related to capital expenditure equipment/projects
Comfortable creating and presenting concepts within team of direct peers as well as senior level management
Experience working with a larger corporation and counterparts in other remote locations
Should be able to work with a multidisciplinary approach in problem solving and collaborating with both internal and external stakeholders
Strong analytical thinking and problem solving skills and working with data/reports.
Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or related engineering/science field
Strong interpersonal & communication skills, self-motivated, customer oriented, multi-tasking, and successful at managing multiple priorities and tasks
Good verbal and written communications skills in English
Experience working in union environment

Pay Range
The typical pay range for this role is:
$66,330.00 - $145,860.00
This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.
