Mississippi Employer Laborer / General Service / Water Crew /Pascagoula in Pascagoula, Mississippi
This position is for a Laborer/General Service position with a company in Pascagoula. Will work in the Water Crew reporting to the crew leader or assistant crew leader.
Summary: Responsible for assisting the crew leader in carrying out assigned duties. Laborers answer to their assigned crew leader, however, they may be assigned to different crews on a daily basis wherever the need exists. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Essential Functions: Helps in repairs and construction of water and sewer lines. Assists in making new water and sewer taps. Helps in ensuring all tools are accounted for and are in clean and operative condition. Assists in housekeeping duties of his assigned area when requested to do so. Ensures all working assignments are carried out in a safe, efficient manner. Knowledge of operating characteristics of assigned equipment. Knowledge of work hazards and safety precautions. Must be willing to learn all assigned tasks and have a good work ethic. Motivation to learn equipment operations for promotional opportunities. Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions, including UP department rules, policies, and regulations. Ability to communicate effectively with other personnel and supervisors. Ability to deal with the public on a regular basis in a professional, courteous manner. Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: No prior experience is necessary. Must have the ability to read and write. Must have a valid driver's license. Prior experience in water or sewer-related fields is helpful as well as pipe fitting. Also must be able to pass a drug test and background check.
