Job Title: Stationary Engineer / Electrician (JPL)

Job Summary: EMCOR Government Services, Inc. has an immediate need for a Stationary Engineer / Electrician to support its client JPL in Pasadena, CA. The project is approx. 3 million SF with more than 200 buildings on campus. The EMCS / PCC Stationary Engineer / Electrician must be experienced in operating Energy Management Control Systems (EMCS) with strong HVAC / Electrical experience. The EMCS / PCC Stationary Engineer / Electrician interacts with customers for all EMCS and mechanical issues on the JPL site. The JPL facility operates 24 / 7 365 days a year. The EMCS / PCC Stationary Engineer / Electrician will be on a shift assignment and will rotate according to coverage and training needs. Some overtime may be required.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Operate, monitor, and troubleshoot the Energy Management Control System (EMCS) and the Power Controls Console (PCC).

  • Operate, monitor, and troubleshoot the Space Flight Operation Facilities (SFOF) emergency generators, PDUs, and UPSs.

  • Performs the day-to-day monitoring and coordination of operational support of the Space Flight Operations Facility’s (B230 and B264) infrastructure, electrical, and mechanical systems.

  • Serve as the Service Order Dispatcher / Call Desk Operator after hours and as required to cover day shift breaks / lunch periods. This includes recording and issuing CMMS work tickets.

  • Identify and report deficiencies or anomalies noted within the EMCS system and PCC.

  • Troubleshoots electrical systems and HVAC controls from the console and in the field as required.

  • Maintains effective communications with all other EMCOR teams and customers.

  • Sends out initial Flash Reports for all critical equipment breakdowns and Facility Infrastructure interruptions.

  • Updates EMCOR Management and JPL key customers when critical repairs are made and or when Facility Infrastructure was restored.

  • Understands how to communicate difficult / sensitive information tactfully.

  • Analyze and act promptly in cases of electrical system disturbance so that the system can be restored to a normal configuration.

  • Logs all critical alarms and events during the shift.

  • Coordinate additional staffing / resource requirements during non-core hours to handle emergencies beyond the capabilities of on-site staff. Coordination of resources is accomplished through direct interface directly with EMCOR Managers / Supervisors (i.e. Program Manager, Operations Manager, Maintenance Manager, SFOF Manager / Supervisor and Leads) as required to address emergency situations.

  • Performs preventive and breakdown maintenance on all assigned work orders.

  • Work with the SFOF Manager to provide vendor quotes and information for ordering critical work order materials and supplies.

Qualifications:

  • Must be a graduate from a formal CA apprentice program for either a Stationary Engineer with a strong emphasis in industrial electricity or an electrical apprenticeship program that led to the CA Certified Journeyman Electrician.

  • Must have experience with operating and monitoring Power Control Consoles, emergency power generation, PDUs, and UPS.

  • Minimum of 5 years equivalent working experience required, with the understanding how to operate and repair industrial electrical and HVAC mechanical systems.

  • Related certification(s) from an accredited institution or technical trade school preferred.

  • Must possess knowledge of maintenance practices, procedures, work methods, materials, equipment, and tools to operate and maintain the systems.

  • Must have prior Building Management System experience; Niagara N4 / AX is preferred.

  • Must have knowledge of computer operations and application pertinent to their field (CMMS, Microsoft applications and email).

  • Must be able to move / lift heavy objects, climb vertical ladders and work at various heights.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and good customer service skills.

  • Ability to read and write in the English Language.

  • Valid CA driver’s license.

  • Must have the ability to multi-task, be organized, pay attention to detail, be dependable, and be a team player.

  • Flexibility to work alternate schedules as necessary.

  • Perform all other duties as assigned to meet customer critical missions.

Compensation Range: $44.09 / hr.
