Robert Half Payroll Administrator in Pasadena, California

Description Robert Half is seeking a Payroll Administrator who can process payroll and is proficient with Microsoft Office applications to fill a role with a company in the Engineering field. In addition, if you possess excellent communication and problem-solving abilities, this may be the right job for you. You will be a part of a dynamic team with an opportunity for career growth. Located in Pasadena, California, the Payroll Administrator is a long-term contract / temporary to hire role.

Responsibilities

  • Guarantee company compliance with federal and state regulations and guidelines

  • Providing payroll information by answering questions and requests

  • Retrieve and assess information in order to resolve payroll discrepancies

  • Other duties as assigned

  • Establish payroll liabilities after calculating all employee federal and state income and social security taxes and employer social security, unemployment, and worker compensation payments

  • Provide help with all internal and external audits of payroll

  • Execute relevant weekly, monthly, quarterly, and year-end reports to circulate amongst department heads

  • Maintain all updates of payroll records by tracking changes in exemptions, insurance coverage, savings deductions, and job title and department/division transfers

  • Secure confidential payroll operation information and maintain employee confidence

  • Maintaining payroll information by collecting, calculating, and entering data

  • Reconciling of employee deductions and other liabilities

  • Understand and report necessary changes to payroll operations by maintaining established policies and procedures

  • Offer proper review and verification of source documents

  • Compile summaries of earnings, taxes, deductions, leave, disability, and nontaxable wages as part of report preparation Requirements - Understanding of internal controls

  • Microsoft Excel experience preferred

  • Solid understanding of Process Payroll

  • Certified Payroll Professional will be given preference

  • 2+ years of strong payroll experience

  • Outstanding data entry skills

  • Proficient with high volume multi-state payroll, billing, licensing, AP, etc.

  • Strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills

  • Experience using accounting software

  • Understanding of basic accounting principles and solid financial acumen

  • Expertise in federal and state payroll regulations and requirements
