Job Summary and Qualifications

Responsible for performing routine tasks related to the operation of the Rehabilitation Department as well as assisting with patient activities which are pre-determined for each patient, assigned by the Rehabilitation Therapist and are performed under direct supervision. Responsible for general up keep of the department's equipment and organization and cleaning of said equipment. Responsible for answering department phone in professional manner and relaying information to appropriate individuals. Responsible for creation and filing of outpatient charts in approved areas.

  • Responsible to assist the Therapist’s with daily patient care as directed.

  • Keep daily log sheets and collect QI data as directed by the Rehabilitation Director and Therapists. Will follow pre-determined cleaning schedule within the department.

  • Responsible for general up keep of the department’s equipment and organization and cleaning of said equipment.

  • The aide is responsible for reporting equipment shortages and failures along with personnel injury and general department maintenance status to the Department Director/designee.

  • Responsible for answering department phone in professional manner and relaying information to appropriate individuals.

  • Responsible for creation and filing of outpatient charts in approved areas.

  • The Rehabilitation Aide will assist with patient transfers and mobility within the facility and in the outpatient facility as determined necessary to safely carry out patient treatment and care.

  • Attends department staff meetings if scheduled to work on that day but if not working, assumes responsibility for reviewing the minutes of said meeting and discussing any questions/comments with the department director.

  • Your job requires that you are accountable for knowledge of the Rehab Department and department specific policies and Standards of Care, OSHA guidelines, Infection Control Manual, MSDS Book, Safety Procedures and any other hospital required manuals or location of said information on the intranet.

What qualifications you will need:

  • High School Graduate / GED

  • Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date

  • Clerical experience preferred and must have interest in the profession and have the ability to work well with others

  • Prior experience as a unit secretary or patient care technician is helpful
