The Manager of Project Sustainment is a pivotal operations-focused role dedicated to the ongoing success and smooth operation of completed projects. This position requires a unique blend of technical knowledge, customer service skills, and leadership, ensuring that all projects continue to meet or exceed expectations.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Serve as the primary contact for commercial solar clients during the post-construction phase, addressing concerns to ensure client satisfaction.

  2. Train, mentor, and develop team members in both the commercial and residential sides of the solar business.

  3. Working collaboratively with other teams, lead the creation, negotiation, and execution of commercial operations and maintenance contracts.

  4. Lead and oversee the residential solar service team, serve as a subject matter expert on warranty and workmanship claims.

  5. Develop processes and procedures to monitor system performance across the portfolio, proactively addressing any substandard performance.

  6. Utilize NRE’s pool of electricians and apprentices as necessary to be sure all operations and maintenance work is performed per contractual obligations.

  7. Facilitate communication and coordination among owners and stakeholders to align project sustainment objectives.

  8. Review and negotiate contracts to ensure terms and conditions support project goals.

  9. Ensure that work is done in a collaborative, safety-first manner, striving at all times for Operational Excellence.

*This position will be based out of our Palatine office with some Hybrid work availability.

*Pay range for this role is $120,000 -$150,000 annually, depending on experience.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• Proven experience as an O&M or Service Manager in the solar industry. Residential and Commercial experience required.

• Strong knowledge of safety regulations and laws (OSHA, EPA, etc.).

• Ability to teach and mentor electricians and technicians in testing and commissioning procedures on residential and commercial solar installations.

• Thorough knowledge of industry standards for testing and commissioning of commercial solar installations; structural, mechanical, and electrical.

COMPETENCIES – SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES:

  2. Excellent communication and customer service skills.

  3. Thorough understanding of renewable energy systems and their maintenance requirements.

  4. Ability to analyze data and make informed decisions to enhance project sustainability.

  5. Proficiency in project and operations management software.
