Job Description: Induction Heating Electrician – 1st & 2nd Shift

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Job Summary: The Induction Heating Electrician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical systems associated with induction equipment. This includes working with induction heating systems, motors, coils, and other components that rely on electromagnetic principles. The role requires a strong understanding of electrical systems, induction principles, and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Installation:

  • Install, connect, and configure induction heating systems, motors, and associated control systems.

  • Set up electrical wiring, circuits, and power supplies for induction equipment.

  • Ensure all installations comply with electrical codes, safety regulations, and manufacturer specifications.

  • Maintenance and Repair:

  • Perform regular inspections and preventive maintenance on induction equipment.

  • Diagnose issues with electrical components, including transformers, capacitors, power supplies, and induction coils.

  • Replace or repair defective components, wiring, or connections.

  • Perform calibration and testing of systems to ensure proper operation.

  • Troubleshooting:

  • Identify and troubleshoot electrical problems in induction systems, including short circuits, grounding issues, and malfunctioning components.

  • Utilize testing equipment, such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, and thermal imaging tools, to diagnose issues.

  • Collaborate with engineering and technical teams to resolve complex electrical problems.

  • Safety and Compliance:

  • Adhere to all safety protocols and industry standards, including lockout/tagout procedures and personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements.

  • Ensure all electrical work is compliant with local, state, and national electrical codes.

  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections.

  • Technical Support:

  • Provide technical guidance to operators and maintenance teams regarding the proper use and care of induction equipment.

  • Assist in training staff on best practices for operating and maintaining induction systems.

  • Documentation and Reporting:

  • Maintain detailed documentation of electrical work performed, including schematics, diagrams, and service logs.

  • Report any equipment malfunctions, safety hazards, or inefficiencies to supervisors and recommend corrective actions.

  • Education: High school diploma or GED required. Technical training or certification in electrical systems, industrial maintenance, or a related field is preferred.

  • Experience: 3-5 years of experience as an electrician, with specific experience in induction systems or industrial electrical work.

  • Skills:

  • o Proficient in reading and interpreting electrical blueprints, schematics, and diagrams.

  • o Strong knowledge of induction heating principles and equipment.

  • o Experience with troubleshooting and maintaining electrical systems in an industrial setting.

  • o Familiarity with programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and automated control systems is a plus.

Qualifications:

Certifications:

  • Journeyman or Master Electrician license may be required, depending on location.

  • Additional certifications related to industrial maintenance, safety, or specific induction equipment can be advantageous.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift heavy equipment, stand for extended periods, and work in confined or elevated spaces.

  • Comfortable working in environments that may involve exposure to heat, noise, and industrial hazards.

Work Environment:

  • Industrial settings, including manufacturing plants, foundries, and facilities with induction heating or motor systems.

  • May require shift work, overtime, and on-call availability for emergency repairs.
