This Position is for a Painter with a public university work location in University, MS.

Definition of Class

This position provides technical guidance to subordinate personnel and responds to the painter supervisor. Incumbent hand brushes, rolls, and spray paints University buildings, areas, and equipment, including mixing, blending, and matching paints and stains. Incumbent also prepares surfaces prior to painting.

Examples of Work Performed

Hand brushes, rolls and spray paints University buildings, areas, and equipment; hangs vinyl and decorative wall coverings.

Mixes, blends, and matches paint and stains to proper color and consistency.

Determines sequences of paint operations and methods to be used, including need or advisability for scaffolding and rigging, color blending and matching required, type and amount of materials needed, and areas to be painted according to work orders; estimates time and cost for painting jobs.

Prepares surfaces prior to painting, including finishing, sheetrock, patching walls and ceilings.

Hangs banners.

Performs similar or related duties as assigned or required.

Essential Functions

These essential functions include, but are not limited to, the following. Additional essential functions may be identified and included by the hiring department.

Paints University buildings, areas, and equipment.

Prepares surfaces prior to painting.

Minimum Education/Experience

Education:

Graduation from a standard four-year high school or equivalent (GED)

AND

Experience:

Four (4) years of experience related to the above described duties.

AND

Licensure:

Must possess a valid driver's license.
