We are recruiting a Head of Projects to join our Local Services division on a permanent basis. This role will be part of the growing South Central business Unit and ideally will be based in either the Surrey/Reading/Oxford area, west of the M25.

The purpose of this role is to manage a team of experienced project managers, having overall responsibility for project delivery, sales/service delivery and profit & loss. You will have proven industry (mechanical, electrical and build) knowledge and a proven ability to develop project pipeline.

What you will do:

  1. Provide leadership in identifying and specifying project opportunities and in delivering contractual commitments on secured projects.

  2. Ensure that opportunities for the strategic development of projects are exploited to deliver increased turnover and profitability.

  3. To deliver projects to completion on time and on budget and to the satisfaction of all parties, expectations to be exceeded wherever possible.

  4. To identify, reduce and manage all risks (technical, statutory, health and safety, commercial or otherwise) associated with each and every project.

  5. Ensure compliance with Norland Managed Services project management policies and procedures.

  6. Ensure company health and safety policy and processes are effectively implemented across both Norland Managed Services and subcontractors activities and are regularly reviewed on each and every project. This will include the timely delivery of a Health and Safety file for the works and full compliance with CDM regulations.

  7. To build strong relationships with subcontractors, in particular preferred suppliers, to ensure cost effective solutions which meet our quality expectations and can be delivered to our clients whilst managing the risk and ensuring back to back terms and conditions.

What we are looking for:

You will have proven industry (mechanical, electrical and build) knowledge and a proven ability to develop project pipeline. You will provide leadership, management and the development of project opportunities whilst ensuring projects are secured and then delivered to meet time and budget requirements and to meet or exceed client expectations.

You will also have good communication skills and an ability to explain the technical details and challenges of each potential project to both technical and non-technical reports within varied customer’s organisation. We will also look for:

  • Minimum of 5 years proven project management experience in either an M&E, FM ,construction or critical environment

  • Proven experience of running a P&L

  • Strong influencing, selling and negotiation skills

  • Present with confidence
