About our Team

The Enterprise Data Platforms and Services (EDPS) team are a central technology group responsible for building, administering, governing, and setting global standards for a growing number of Elsevier strategic data platforms and services. The capabilities we are responsible for enable data to be collected, accessed, processed and integrated across a wide range of digital business solutions, used by functions including billing and order management, customer and product master data management, and business analytics and insights delivery. Due to our footprint across the enterprise, we are relied upon to ensure our systems are trusted, reliable and available. The technology underpinning these capabilities includes industry leading data and analytics products such as Snowflake, Tableau, Collibra, Kafka, Airflow, and Kubernetes.

This group has been created recently as part of a longer-term strategic direction to implement Data Mesh, and with it establish shared platforms that enables a connected collection of enterprise-ready time saving services. Our mission is to enable frictionless experiences for all Elsevier colleagues, so that they can openly and securely consume and produce trustworthy data, enhancing everyday colleague and customer interactions and decisions.

About the Role

W e are seeking a versatile and experienced Delivery, Service and Process professional to lead partnerships with our engineering teams, senior business leaders, and product managers. In this high-profile role you will help understand user requirements and map diverse user interactions with various data platform components to aid design and implementation decisions for self-service components. You will be expected to be the single point of contact for delivery process related items, as such will provide representation at various data and analytics forums that are attended by heads of departments.

You will work closely with technology squads to define and govern their delivery, value articulation, communication, and prioritisation frameworks. Given the various Elsevier platform initiatives, you will be responsible for compiling an aggregated roadmap view to ensure alignment and promote collaboration. Your success will be measured by demonstrable continuous improvement in business service review surveys, in areas such as Prioritisation, Communication, Team Efficiency, and Delivery Process clarity. We aim to show progress in user satisfaction scores, trusted partner scores, and areas of the agile capability maturity model. Importantly, you should also be able to demonstrate increased adoption and re-use of the services we provision, serving as a measure of increased efficiencies by our teams. In doing so you will partner closely with our Platform Product Management team, and the Process Excellence and Digital Adoption team.

Responsibilities

  • Accountable for evolving and applying the delivery and process framework – enabling various delivery squads to capture requests, plan, prioritise, monitor, report, and support their applications consistently.

  • Accountable for evolving ways-of-working – identify opportunities to streamline delivery, and ensure we have consistent processes, ways-of-working, templates, and feedback loops

  • Responsible for maintaining a cross domain roadmap – align with platform product management and technical product owners to create shared goals and objectives to build a cohesive product delivery plan

  • Responsible for supporting strategy alignment – consult with business and technology leaders, and product counterparts, to understand drivers, key initiatives and priorities ensuring we are an effective and trusted partner.

  • Responsible for capacity management – analyse backlog delivery, formulate a capacity allocation framework, get stakeholder buy-in, and support team leads to implement.

  • Accountable for demonstrating business value delivery – capture value and key performance indicators supported by the platform, and communicate delivery excellence, adoption and ROI success stories

  • Responsible for effective requirements analysis and definition – work with business partners to elicit high quality development-ready requirements, capture business needs (inc. value), and identify opportunities for business led delivery.

  • Responsible for coaching and training – ensure that various stakeholders, as well as the delivery teams, understand and adopt the delivery framework and agile capability maturity model.

  • Stakeholder management – partnering and collaborating with senior stakeholders to resolve issues, whilst being self-motivated and able to work with minimal guidance.

  • Agile delivery and delivery management – deep practical understanding of various agile methodologies and delivery management approaches.

  • Prioritisation – adaptable to changing needs within the organization with a professional, flexible and pragmatic response to rapidly evolving priorities, and able to mitigate impacts.

  • Business analysis – process mapping, requirements elicitation, workshop facilitation and ability to work with data to formulate and support decisions.

  • Consulting and influencing – creating proposals and arguments supported by strong research, reasoning, and a compelling business case for change and adoption.

  • Data platforms – exposure to platform teams, to support software engineering best practices and agile maturity, and convey complex technical issues to diverse audiences.

  • Privacy and compliance – understanding of regulated environments and approaches to handling personal and sensitive information.

  • Discovery and design – experience leading teams in identifying, researching, and coordinating the resources necessary to identify risks/impacts to facilitate decision-making.
