OVERVIEW

The Lead Infrastructure Operations Consultant, Cloud leads the design, development and implementation of innovative cloud solutions. The position is responsible for ensuring our Cloud vision is implemented according to security and operational best practices. This includes automating cloud operational activities, codifying security controls and remediation, and developing methods to test and validate all controls. This position will lead the onboarding effort for new Cloud Platforms and ensure that the proper controls are documented, implemented and updated as Cloud features are enhanced or changed by our cloud providers.

ROLE SUMMARY AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Participates in planning, implementation, and growth of our Cloud strategy

  • Reviews cloud services and defines Operation and Security controls. Designs and implements automations to remediate infrastructure deviances from controls.

  • Creates standards for Cloud Operations and infrastructure deployment. Creates and utilizes infrastructure versioned templates that meet these standards and makes them accessible to product teams for application automated deployment.

  • Consults and makes recommendations on Cloud based application deployments to ensure that they follow best practices in the areas of Security, Availability, Cost Optimization, and compliance controls.

  • Coordinates across support teams to quickly resolve disruptions to technology services, performs root cause analysis, and takes preventative measures

  • Reviews planned changes for alignment to target state and for adherence to policies before being implemented into the technology environment

  • Works across teams to review technology portfolio and make recommendations for procedures and practices

  • Reviews production readiness of technology solutions and application deployments

  • Acts as advisor to management and key external stakeholders on broad-ranging projects

  • Reviews performance trends across the broader technology portfolio and initiates actions to address areas at risk for potential impacts

  • Proactively identifies and addresses vulnerabilities across the technology environment

  • Evaluates capacity utilization and initiates projects to address areas of excess and shortages proactively

  • Leads disciplinary or cross-functional program of notable risk; uses sophisticated analytical thought to identify innovative solutions

  • Solicits diverse perspectives and input from others to deal with emerging issues or identify effective approaches for completing work

  • Provides feedback and coaching to others who have management responsibility of resources

  • Mentors more junior members of the team

  • Proactively helps team members/makes suggestions to improve practices

  • Ability to be on-call and/or work during off-hours

    REQUIREMENTS

  • 5+ years of relevant experience

  • 2+ years of experience building and supporting solutions on Amazon AWS

  • Fluent in at least one programming language (Python, Java, or .Net)

  • Experience with Microsoft Active Directory, EntraID, DNS, DHCP solutions

  • Knowledge/experience with Hashicorp suite of tools for Cloud Management - Terraform, Vault, Packer, Vagrant

  • Proven ability to automate using scripting and/or programming using serverless technologies

  • Proficiency with Windows and Linux server platform administration and troubleshooting

  • Effectively uses logic as a problem-solving tool

  • Communicates technical ideas and concepts to non-technical audiences

  • Able to clearly articulate operational principles, practices, and policies

  • Provides accurate and timely status for their own work and escalates when necessary

  • Stays abreast of industry trends and technologies

  • Works independently, with guidance in only the most complex situations

  • Accountable for work of self and others; sets standards around which others will operate

  • Maintains a broad internal professional network and knows when to engage/activate it

  • Develops or mentors diverse talent on the team

FINRA licenses are not required and will not be supported for this role.

Work Flexibility

This role is eligible for remote work up to three days a week.
