Racker Substitute Daycare/Special Education Teacher Aide in Owego, New York

In this role, you’ll support the development and well-being of children in a dynamic, inclusive educational setting. Join a team of experienced teachers to both support children with disabilities in integrated preschool classrooms and infant/toddler daycare classrooms as a substitute teacher aide. Our focus is to foster a strength based environment where every child can thrive by learning and growing through play.

Rate of pay: $16.65 per hour(This position is as needed)

Responsibilities

  • Provide a warm, safe, and caring environment for children that will promote learning and a positive self-image, reflecting Racker’s values as defined in the Mission, Vision, Guiding Principles and Code of Conduct

  • Carry out plans and programs for children as assigned by the teacher, including possible one-to-one assignment with a specific child

  • Personal care including toileting, feeding, dressing, lifting and positioning

  • Share information with classroom and management team

  • Effective communication as a member of the team, including participation in appropriate meetings

  • Promote open communication and mutual understanding

  • Attend training required by program regulations and as directed by supervisor

  • Contribute to a positive work and learning environment for children in program as well as co-workers – must be professional, courteous and confidential

  • Provide ideas and show initiative to help develop the educational setting

  • Uphold standards of professionalism with regard to behavior and dress

  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Education, Experience, & Skills:

  • High school diploma or GED. Must be at least 18 years old by date of hire.

  • Effective written, verbal and communication skills.

  • Related experience preferred.

    Physical Capability

  • Ability to physically assist children to participate in the program; ability to lift up to forty (40) pounds; ability to engage in repetitive movements such as sitting/kneeling on floor, bending and stooping; ability to move quickly to attend to a running child.
