Actalent Traffic Engineer in Overland Park, Kansas

We are seeking an experienced Traffic Engineer who is passionate about civil engineering and eager to contribute to various traffic design projects. This role requires proficiency in Civil 3D and Microstation, and candidates should be prepared to learn and work with both software programs as required by different projects and clients.
Responsibilities
Assist engineers with routine traffic engineering assignments under close supervision, becoming familiar with software programs, staff, and operating procedures.
Periodically work in the field to collect and analyze traffic data such as traffic volume and speed.
Request and analyze crash data as needed.
Review auxiliary lane warrants and traffic signal warrants.
Create traffic models using simulation software.
Assist in creating traffic signal plans, pavement marking plans, signing plans, street lighting plans, and traffic control plans for various projects.
Compute quantities for traffic engineering design tasks.
Check specifications for adherence to engineering standards.
Develop signal timing and coordination plans.
Write technical reports and review and prepare responses to questions by clients and the general public.
Perform civil design calculations, sketches, technical comparisons, and similar technical work as required.
Coordinate project assignments with other engineers and technicians.
Review drawings supplied by vendors, clients, and engineers and architects and recommend necessary changes.
Create quality CADD drawings.
Research code issues and collaborate with City, State, and County officials.
Research design options and document findings for project engineers and managers.
Attend kick-off and design review meetings and interact with clients as experience level progresses.
Essential Skills
Proficiency in Civil 3D and Microstation.
At least 2 years of experience in traffic design using Civil 3D or Microstation.
Knowledge of traffic engineering, traffic studies, and traffic impact analysis.
Experience with transportation design, roadway design, and highway design.
Ability to perform traffic analysis and civil design.
Experience in traffic signals, traffic control, and geometrics.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
2-4 years of experience in traffic design using C3D and Microstation.
Knowledge of AutoCAD and EIT certification.
Work Environment
Our work environment promotes balance between work and personal life, offering flexible working hours from Monday through Friday. The position may require additional work outside of regular hours to meet project demands. We are a collaborative and family-oriented team of approximately 40 professionals, including surveyors, CAD designers, and engineers, dedicated to supporting clients from various municipalities and communities surrounding the Kansas City Metro area.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $83000.00 - $96000.00/yr.
