Aston Carter Staff Accountant in Overland Park, Kansas

Aston Carter is partnering with a client in Overland Park seeking a Staff Accountant to add to their growing team. This is a contract to hire opportunity, with a hybrid schedule offered after the contract period!Job DescriptionThe Staff Accountant will be responsible for general accounting functions including accounts payable invoicing, preparing journal entries to the ledger, daily banking activities, and bank statement reconciliations. This position will also assist with month-end closing, account analysis, and other projects related to the Finance department's accounting functions.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for general accounting functions and other related activities.

  • Process accounts payables invoices, including coding of invoices, obtaining proper approvals, and entering invoices for processing.

  • Enter daily banking transactions and post to the general ledger.

  • Reconcile bank accounts, verify deposits, and research any discrepancies.

  • Prepare balance sheet account reconciliations.

  • Administer the Credit Card Portal, assisting users, coding transactions, and reviewing proper receipts.

  • Process EFT payments for various vendor payables and client bordereaux.

  • Provide assistance to outside auditors by gathering necessary account information and documents.

  • Support the Finance team in completing month-end close and reporting.

  • Perform other related duties or ad-hoc special projects as assigned.

  • 2+ years of full-cycle accounting experience in AP, AR, Bank Reconciliation, and Month-End close

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Degree in Accounting preferred but not required; if no degree, 3+ years of experience required

  • Experience with Workday or other ERP systems preferred

  • Proficiency in balance sheet preparation

Work Environment

Core hours are from 9 AM to 3 PM, but the office is open from 7 AM to 5 PM, allowing for a flexible schedule. The laid-back office environment of a smaller company provides opportunities to wear many hats and ensures a great work-life balance.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $25.00/hr.
