Ford Motor Company Software Supervisor - BSP and Boot in Ottawa, Ontario

We are looking for an experienced and motivated supervisor to join the Ford BSP and Boot Development Team. The candidate will lead and manage a software development team, provide direction and guidance for development projects, and ensure that all projects meet the highest quality standards. The range of projects of team include infotainment, connectivity and other HW modules in the next generation of FORD vehicles.

Responsibilities for Candidates

  • Lead and manage a team of software engineers and test engineers, providing technical direction and guidance for development projects. Establish sound test procedure to ensure quality standards are met

  • Oversee technical project plans and timelines, ensuring projects are completed on time with Agile SW Development methodologies

  • Work closely with other departments, such as hardware team, architect team, security team to ensure all technical requirements are met

  • Identify risks/dependencies and offer solutions

  • Drive or participate troubleshooting with multiple teams and vendors

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or equivalent field of study (Successful candidates will be required to provide proof of degree completion for the highest level of education attained. If the degree was obtained from a school outside of Canada, an Education Credential Assessment report showing Canadian equivalency is also required.)

  • 8+ years of experience in the design and development of BSP (Linux/QNX) and bootloaders and 3+ years of technical leadership

  • Experience of leading projects with Agile SW Development methodologies

  • Proven C language expertise in an embedded environment

  • Experience in leading or completing at least 2 board bring ups

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Capable of understanding electronic schematics

  • Skilled in using debugging tools like JTAG and the oscilloscope/logic analyzer

  • Completed or lead device driver development (UART, I2C, SPI, CAN/CAN FD, etc.)

  • Excellent problem solving and intuitive debugging skills

  • Experience of driving troubleshooting across multiple teams and vendors

  • Knowledge of ARM processors (A series, M series)

  • Familiarity with various cryptographic algorithms (RSA, DES, AES, SHA256)

  • Experience with flash memories (eMMC, NAND, NOR)
