The Senior Test Engineering Specialist will be responsible for developing and maintaining system verification and validation plans of the Telesat LEO constellation communication system. In addition, they will participate in the various testing activities across the Telesat Leo system with vendors and other partners and responsible for maintaining the lab.

Main Responsibilities

  • In this role, the incumbent will issue recommendations and have influence on the system verification and validation of the Telesat LEO system.

  • Develop system and sub system verification matrices against system requirements.

  • Coordinate and participate with the Network and System Engineering teams for system level testing activities including test planning, execution and reporting.

  • Serve as a Networking expert and support other technical staff as required, maintain a deep understanding of industry standards and protocols related to segment routing, such as IS-IS, OSPF, BGP, and MPLS.

  • Maintain familiarity with transport network technologies including Segment Routing (SR-MPLS) and Software Defined Networking (SDN).

  • Represent the System Integration and Test team by documenting and understanding network requirements to hardware and software when interfacing with the Telesat development teams in areas of customer facing MEF 3.0 interface and networking design.

  • Make sure whether the required Lightspeed components are MEF complaint.

  • Ensure product under test meets technical, functional, performance and business requirements.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field or equivalent work experience.

  • 14+ years of progressive experience in testing IP networks, with a focus on routing, firewalls, SDWAN, IPSEC VPNs, and deep packet inspection.

  • Understanding of Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF) standards and objectives as they relate to Carrier Ethernet Services.

  • Professional certifications such as CCIE, CCNP, CISSP or equivalent are highly desirable.

  • Broad experience or exposure across all areas of network related product design, development, verification, deployment and support

Specialized Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Strong knowledge of IP/TCP/Routing fundamentals

  • Experience with various IP Test equipment like Ixia

  • Experience with cloud technology, virtualization, and containerization.

  • Familiarity with Agile development methodologies.

  • Experience working with geographically dispersed teams.

  • Familiar with various Atlassian tools like Jira and requirements track like JAMA.

  • Experience with network automation and scripting using tools such as Python, Ansible, or similar.

  • Preferred some Linux experience.

  • Excellent communication (verbal, written, presentation) and interpersonal skills.

The successful candidate must be able to work in Canada and obtain clearance under the Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP).
