You will join an evolving team, responsible for developing the design of electrical building systems through to completion of the design packages and following through with the construction administration. What you can expect to do here:
Design leading-edge engineering solutions for the various electrical and electronic building systems, including low voltage power distribution (including emergency power and UPS), lightning protection and grounding, fire detection and voice alarm, public address, passive telecommunications and security systems infrastructure, lighting and lighting controls systems, and external underground services infrastructure.
Develop technical specifications.
Preparing AutoCAD drawings and Revit 3D modeling for all electrical building systems.
Application of Electrical Engineering requirement, Ontario Building Code (OBC), Electrical Safety Authority, and IEEE standards for Building and Site design.
Perform site investigations to determine project background information, as well as site reviews of building construction projects to determine compliance with project documents and OBC general review requirements.
Collaborate with different stakeholder groups to develop and articulate the merits of the selected solutions for the various electrical systems.
What you’ll bring to WSP:
Licensed Professional Engineer in Ontario
Minimum of 10 years electrical engineering and design experience on major complex building projects – experience with large scale, institutional projects a distinct advantage.
Experience in designing electrical systems for buildings, transportation, healthcare and light industrial projects including but not limited to: power distribution, lighting, life safety, security, IT, Communications (COMM), Building Automation System (BAS);
Excellent working knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit MEP 3D and proficient in MS Office Applications.
Experience working in different delivery models – i.e. CM, Design Build, P3 projects a distinct advantage.
Detailed working knowledge of Canadian Electrical Code, Ontario Electrical Safety Code, National Building Code of Canada and the Ontario Building Code.
Understanding of LEED v4.0 and ASHRAE standards.
** To qualify for this role, you must be eligible for Canadian Federal Government Enhanced Reliability clearance. This is a mandatory requirement to work with clients.
