Position: Senior Business Analyst, Business Architecture & Blueprinting

Employment Type: Permanent

Compensation Details :

  • Business Analyst 18: Salaries typically range from $94,664 to $126,218 annually, based on qualifications and experiences, plus a performance-based incentive.

Location:

  • Export Development Canada operates in a hybrid work environment, currently requiring employees to work in the office 2 days per week. (subject to change)

  • This role can be performed from EDC’s headquarters in Ottawa or from one of our Community Hubs located in Toronto, Mississauga, Montreal, Brossard, or Laval.

  • Relocation assistance is available for candidates who meet the eligibility criteria.

  • The Digital & Technology Solutions (DTS) group under the leadership of the Chief Information Officer was established in 2023 with the mission of empowering our customers and colleagues to take on the world, by seamlessly delivering secure and reliable digital experiences. Digital & Technology Solutions has set out to achieve the following objectives for EDC:

  • Define, execute, and sustain the integrated technology target state, target data model and technology operations required to enable EDC’s 2030 business transformation.

  • Establish and manage the rolling 3 Year Digital Roadmap that sequences the technology outcomes required to achieve the technology target state and facilitate its execution across all domains in the organization.

  • Keep pace with industry trends and emerging technologies, ensuring EDC has access to the digital technology tools it needs to stay relevant in the market and grow Canadian global trade.

  • Lead and ensure integrated digital, data, infrastructure, and cybersecurity implementations to create excellent customer, user, and employee experiences.

  • Our Digital Delivery Strategy & Enablement (DDSE) team is at the heart of strategic planning and alignment, supporting business transformation with digital capabilities. We ensure framing of initiatives for delivery teams and play a key role in aligning business and technology for strategic outcomes.

  • As a senior Business Analyst, you will work closely with our business architect and collaborate across the organization with various stakeholders. You’ll understand business capabilities, assess opportunities, and support business transformation towards modern digital foundations. Your role involves eliciting, analyzing, communicating, validating and translating business needs into digital opportunities.

  • This position requires business architecture knowledge, digital competencies, an ability to learn the business processes quicky, the ability to prepare and lead business workshops and agility to respond to constant change, strong IT knowledge, as well as excellent communications and analytical skills. It also necessitates strong collaborative and relationship management skills given the high level of interaction.

What you will be doing:

  • Manage & support the alignment of EDC business capabilities.

  • Facilitate sessions with the business and lead workshops to capture opportunities and goals for digital technology alignment.

  • Deconstruct complex business processes and identify opportunities for a new business target state leveraging digital technology and identification of KPI’s.

  • Present complex situations to stakeholders using persuasion, influence, negotiation and conflict resolution skills.

  • Identify changes, in business terms resulting from evolving technology or digital capabilities.

  • Solve problems leveraging critical thinking and contribute to strategy and planning with team leadership.

  • Articulate the Digital Roadmap and ensure alignment in requirements conversations.

  • Lead engaging presentations and facilitate workshops to review requirements bringing others to agreement around a set of ideas.

  • Deliver clear, complete and usable documentation, that is right sized for the circumstances.

What we are looking for:

  • Education: Undergraduate Degree in Commerce, Business, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.

  • Domain experience: Minimum 7 years’ experience as a Business Analyst or similar position.

  • Domain knowledge: Solid knowledge of Agile Delivery Practices and technical implementation.

  • Analytical capability: Excellent investigative and analytical skills.

  • Communication skills: Excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to communicate with both business and technical audiences; strong listening skills.

  • Stakeholder management : Strong problem-solving abilities and a proven track record of liaising with stakeholders at all levels.

What will make you stand out:

  • Certifications: Business Analyst (BA) Certifications such as IIBA Certified Business Analysis Professional™ (CBAP®) or IIBA Agile Analysis Certificate or willingness to obtain.

  • Framework knowledge: Knowledge of Enterprise Architecture Frameworks (TOGAF and/or Zachman.) ; Knowledge of BIAN (Banking Industry Architecture Network)

  • Functional experience: Experience with Business Architecture fundamentals and strategy development.

  • Industry experience: Experience in financial industries and/or legal services.

  • Language: Bilingual in both official languages (French and English).
