Oswego County Public Health Educator Assistant in Oswego, New York
The Oswego County Health Department has an immediate opening for a Public Health Educator Assistant. This position involves responsibility for assisting in the planning, logistics, implementation, and evaluation of Emergency Preparedness and Public Health Education projects and Programs. Employee may prepare and gather necessary equipment and materials for vaccination or testing clinics, Public Health Emergency Preparedness (PHEP) drills and exercise or health education programs and outreach. In addition, incumbent will help review and update PHEP plans, and inventory grant purchased materials and equipment.Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree; OR associate’s degree and two (2) years ofexperience either in public relations or journalism or supporting health educationprograms; OR graduation from high school or possession of an equivalency diplomaand four (4) years of experience as described above. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Possession of a valid New York State driver’s license appropriate to the vehicles operated or otherwise demonstrate their ability to meet the transportation needs of the position. Participation in Public Health emergency preparedness drills and responses may be required. Select immunizations may be required at time of appointment or at any time throughout the course of employment according to New York State Department of Health or other oversight agency requirements.Permanent appointment to this position will require successful completion of the civil service examination.Pay Rate: $19.80 per hour plus competitive benefits package including: health, life, dental and vision insurance; NYS Retirement; and Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program.To Apply: Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until position is filled.
