General Summary:

Astronics Test Systems is looking for a highly motivated candidate for a Senior Accounting Manager role. The position will report to the Sr. Director – Accounting & Finance, with dotted-line reporting to the Corporate Controller, and will be an integral member of the team focused on the accuracy and integrity of the Company's financial accounting under U.S. GAAP and complete, accurate and timely reporting to Corporate. This person will also be responsible for assisting the VP with developing consistent processes across all sites, domestic and international. The Accounting & Finance team works closely with the Company's and the Corporate office’s senior management and must have very strong communication and presentation skills. The ideal candidate will be comfortable researching technical accounting issues and providing views on a broad range of accounting issues. The ideal candidate will also be comfortable evaluating business processes with a focus on internal controls execution and documentation under Sarbanes-Oxley section 404.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Monthly and Quarterly Requirements

  • Review site financial submissions and consolidate monthly financial statements of other sister sites/companies.

  • Prepare/review account reconciliations, ensuring compliance of accounting with U.S. GAAP and ensuring proper evidence of preparation and review under the requirements of SOX 404.

  • Prepare Quarterly P&L, Balance Sheet and Actual/Budget fluctuation analyses.

  • Prepare Quarterly disclosure support schedules to Corporate.

  • Complete quarterly reporting questionnaire for submission to Corporate.

  • Prepare weekly cash forecasts.

  • Work with the Finance Manager to provide timely and accurate program financials.

  • Coordinate with internal and external auditors for interim and annual procedures, including facilitating deliverables with other accounting team members to ensure timely completion of the audit processes.

  • Assist with providing on-going technical accounting training to the Finance organization.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Accounting Research

  • Evaluate the impact of new accounting standards on a changing business environment and develop a plan for execution with the assistance of Corporate finance team.

  • Support senior management with analysis, review, reporting and other technical accounting related needs.

  • Update and/or implement accounting policies and procedures to respond to changes within the Company.

Job Specifications:

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field

  • Certified Public Accountant

  • 5+ years of public accounting experience. Big 4 experience preferred. Additional accounting experience in industry is a plus.

  • SOX 404 experience.

  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP.

  • Ability to work with Corporate team in the implementation of new accounting guidance.

  • Working knowledge of ASC 606 revenue recognition accounting, especially revenue-over-time (percentage of completion) accounting.

  • Ability to set and keep deadlines at a fast pace without losing accuracy.

  • Outstanding organizational and project management skills with experience at managing multiple assignments simultaneously.

  • Must be self-motivated and able to function independently, driven towards superior effort and performance along with the desire to work in a very dynamic environment.

  • Experience in a business partnering role, including understanding functional area roles, responsibilities, and the interdependencies with accounting.

  • Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills, including written and verbal communication, especially in developing positions and presenting to management, auditors, and non-accounting stakeholders.

Preferred skills:

  • Experience with systems implementations.

  • Experience in a manufacturing environment and general knowledge of cost accounting

  • Strong project-managements skills.

  • Confident self-starter who is flexible and embraces change.

  • Strong at execution, follow-up and attention to detail.

  • A team player, adept at building relationships across the organization.
