Marriott Vacations Worldwide IT Finance Analyst in Orlando, Florida

Job Summary

The IT Finance Analyst works with a high degree of independence, supporting function strategy and facilitating the flow of work between own department, Global Technology, and process areas in alignment with broader business objectives. This role is responsible for supporting financial aspects of Global Technology Finance as it relates to accounts payable, vendor management, balance sheet reconciliations, analysis, reporting, as well as special projects. The role will support the needs of the IT Finance enhanced functions geared at meeting the transformation and modernization goals of the organization.

The IT Finance Analyst reports and works closely with the Associate Director of IT Finance in functions like monthly closing & reporting, reconciliations, allocations, and addressing the department email box. The Analyst will also perform cross-functional support to the project accounting team as needed. This role will need to make reference to the annual budget/forecast for coding of invoices to ensure the accuracy of vendor invoices and resolution of issues related to vendor invoices, as appropriate. The IT Finance Analyst will also participate in transformation initiatives in support of IT’s overall strategic and business imperatives.

Expected Contributions

  • Process invoice payments timely to MVW IT suppliers.

  • Set up vendors and make changes in Peoplesoft.

  • Work with vendors to resolve IT business account matters.

  • Manage the IT Finance mailbox by addressing email, coding invoices received, and routing to respective parties as needed.

  • Assist in the preparation of variance explanations for period and year to date comparison to budget and last year.

  • Review financial data to ensure it follows MVW’s policies and procedures. Also, utilize queries and other canned reports for variance explanations and other department analysis. Answer inquiries from Senior Management on variances.

  • Reconcile Balance Sheet accounts on a monthly basis.

  • Maintain costing files to be used in developing annual budget, update forecast files, and other cost analyses. Responsible for monthly review and accrual assessment.

  • Prepare audit workpapers. Work with auditors, both internal and external to provide backup as needed.

  • Participate in the close processes including the preparation of reports and value-added analysis.

  • Evaluate current overall financial processes and implement continuous improvements including streamlining processes to enable the IT Finance team to deliver proficient services.

  • Ensure vendor bills are accurate and assist in the resolution of any issues.

  • Help improve governance around vendor invoicing processes.

  • Assist in the development of discipline and enterprise policies and guidelines to facilitate a strong internal control environment and ensure full compliance to help support the IT Function.

  • Participate and contribute to ad-hoc special projects and other strategic IT initiatives, as assigned.

Candidate Profile

Education & Experience

  • BS or BA degree in Finance or Accounting or equivalent relevant experience.

  • A minimum of 4 years of relevant progressive experience, preferably in a multi-faceted corporate setting.

Skills & Attributes

  • Intermediate to advance knowledge of Excel and financial modelling.

  • Must have strong business judgment, analytical skills, and conceptual thinking.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with people at all levels in an organization and encourage business partnering.

  • Strong organizational skills, ability to complete multiple, concurrent tasks, and consistently meet deadlines.

  • Strong communication skills (oral, written, one-on-one, group).

  • Project and process management skills with attention to detail.

  • High degree of energy, self-confidence, integrity and drive.

  • Hands-on problem solver and team player.

  • Knowledge of Peoplesoft General Ledger/AP, preferred.
