Orlando Utilities Commission Inventory Control Analyst in Orlando, Florida

We are looking for an analytical, detail-oriented professional to analyze material usage data, forecast future requirements, and support operational decisions by identifying trends that drive material inventory planning. This position offers a flexible hybrid schedule, with the expectation to be in the office every Wednesday and as needed for business meetings.

In this role, you will evaluate material requests, analyze usage data, forecast inventory needs, and generate reports to support decision-making for various business units. Key tasks include maintaining stock levels, assisting with inventory stocking models, processing material orders, and collaborating with Warehouse Supervisors to optimize inventory. You will also attend key business and construction meetings, manage catalog items, and ensure efficient sourcing of materials across the system. We are seeking someone with strong follow-up skills, the ability to run and analyze ad hoc reports, and experience in inventory management systems. A quick learner who can navigate material forecasting, lead-time analysis, and material usage reporting will thrive in this role.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, economics, industrial engineering, business, finance, or a related field (e.g., civil, mechanical, electrical engineering) from an accredited institution.

  • A minimum of three (3) years of experience in inventory control, supply chain logistics, procurement, or materials fulfillment. Advanced education in a related field may substitute for experience on a 1:1 basis.

  • Strong analytical skills with experience in forecasting, financial modeling, inventory trend analysis, data metrics and reporting (preferred).

  • Working knowledge of inventory-related reports, engineering drawings/specifications, end-to-end process flows, and familiarity with inventory management, MRP (Materials Resource Planning), or ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) systems.

Salary Range: $31.15 - $38.94 per hour (Estimated $64,802 - $80,999 annually) - commensurate with experience

Job Purpose:

Analyze material usage data and forecast future requirements to purchase materials.

Primary Functions:

  • Analyze material requests to evaluate need, accuracy, and scheduling;

  • Analyze material usage data and forecast future requirements;

  • Assist in setting inventory stocking levels using analytical stocking models within the materials network;

  • Maintain tools to forecast material usage and stock status, verify cycle counts for discrepancies and approve adjustments;

  • Log and manage catalog items;

  • Meet with internal client groups to facilitate and forecast material needs, serve as single point of contact for assigned client groups;

  • Ascertain pre-construction information and collaborate with customer groups attending weekly meetings;

  • Generate purchase requisitions to fulfill requirements, work with Procurement department to expedite delivery of materials;

  • Determine sourcing of requested materials, initiate transfers from existing inventories;

  • Review inventories to identify and dispose of obsolete/excess material;

  • Identify opportunities to reduce inventory through item consolidation, substitution, and discontinuance;

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Technical Requirements:

  • Working knowledge of all, but not limited to, the following:

  • Inventory related reports;

  • Engineering drawings and specifications;

  • Timesheets;

  • JD Edwards EnterpriseOne;

  • Familiarity with all, but not limited to the following:

  • Related industry, organizational and departmental legal guides, recommendations, policies, procedures, best practices, ordinances and laws;

  • Ability to:

  • Make arithmetic computations using whole numbers, fractions and decimals and able to compute rates, ratios and percentages;

  • Use Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) and standard office equipment (telephone, computer, copier, etc.).

Education/ Certification/ Years of Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field such as Economics, Industrial Engineering, Mathematics or Business from an accredited college or university

  • OR

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • Minimum of four (4) years of experience in the area of Engineering, Construction, or Inventory Management

  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience working in Procurement or Materials Management

  • Valid driver’s license

This job consists of constant sitting, speaking and hearing. This job requires constant reading, writing, detailed inspection and typing. This job requires constant repetitive motions. This job may consist of very frequent walking and climbing (ladders, stairs, hills, etc.). This job may consist of frequent standing. This job may require occasional lifting up to twenty (20) lbs, and bending/ stooping. Additionally, this job consists of occasional driving of a company vehicle.
