Position Announcement

 

As a food services supervisor, you would manage the operations of a restaurant at UVU, both the production and retail food services, including the day-to-day operation, customer service, scheduling of staff and the upkeep and sanitation of the facilities. The supervisor will work with management to evaluate sales, promotions, marketing plans and seasonal business fluctuations, make recommendations and implement changes to ensure successful business operations

 

Summary of Responsibilities

 

• Prepares baked goods according to recipes and Production Managers instruction. Assists the Production Manager in the preparation of events for catering services. Effectively communicates with management and service staff in order to fulfill and address any issues or needs requested by guests and or other employees. Ensures food quality is superior and takes action to correct any irregularities.

• Maintains all equipment and facilitates safe serve procedures and standards. Ensures kitchen equipment is property maintained and functioning. Identifies and safely uses all kitchen equipment.

• Assists the Production Manager in ordering foods and keeping cost control. Properly labels and dates all products; and, ensures all products are rotating on a first-in, first-out philosophy. Creates production list to ensure efficient execution of service. Conducts inventory on a regular basis to ensure proper par levels.

 

Minimum Qualifications

 

• Graduation from an accredited institution with an associate's degree or any combination of education and/or experience related to the position summary totaling a minimum of two years.

• Must have a valid driver's license.

 

Licenses or Certifications:

 

• Food handlers permit within 14 days of hire.

 

Knowledge, Skill, and Abilities

 

Knowledge:

 

• Knowledge of the operation/management of a food service operation or a quick service restaurant

• Understanding of sanitation principles, and practices related to the food production industry.

 

Skills:

 

• Skills in public and human relations including interpersonal, problem-solving, and decision-making skills

• Must be able to understand labels and safety instructions for the use of sanitizing products and cleaning chemicals instructions.

 

Abilities:

 

• Ability to plan, organize, manage, supervise, and direct the activities of a quick service restaurant

• Ability to follow written and verbal procedures and instructions

• Ability to foster a cooperative work environment
