Technical Writer (Arbortext/XML)

KBR is seeking a Technical Writer (Arbortext/XML) to support PMA 242 with technical publications updates in Orange Park, FL. The ideal candidate will have experience working with USN aircraft in a maintenance/technical role, where they worked with military technical documents, utilizing Extensible Markup Language (XML) & Arbortext.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Interacts with Subject Matter Experts, Instructional Designers, and Engineers to ensure editorial and government specifications are met.

  • Attend technical manual reviews and verifications as well as document procedures and processes.

  • Ensures documents and adheres to standards for quality, graphics, coverage, format, and style.

  • Must exhibit flexibility in work hours to adjust to surge situations based on critical mission requirements. Travel may be required to support projects; this may involve airline travel.

  • Researches, writes, edits, and proofreads technical data for use in documents or sections of documents such as manuals, procedures, and specifications. Ensures technical documentation is complete, meets editorial and government specifications, and adheres to standards for quality, graphics, coverage, format, and style. Assists in establishing style guidelines and standards for texts and illustrations.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: High School Diploma

Experience: 2+ years of experience

Technical Skills/Expertise:

  • Experience using Extensible Markup Language (xml) & Arbortext

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Oracle products.

  • Experience using Arbortext to create documents for XML authoring, development, and collaboration for technical manual development. Must also be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat Pro. Excellent written communication skills and the ability to write in a clear, concise format.

  • Experience or capacity to research, develop, and/or update content for printed manuals, as well as Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) documents for standard technical procedures.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Prior or current experience in a Naval Maintenance/Technical role

10+ years of US Navy experience working with USN aircraft

Experience working with military technical documents
