Job Description:

Construction Inspectors – Los Angeles Area - Riverside County

Opportunity :

Parsons is now hiring experienced Construction Inspectors in the Los Angeles / Ontario Area in Riverside County to work with various inspections for Caltrans projects , which would include road & Highway , and associated systems. These are casual based hires that are contingent on any awarded contract task orders for various Caltrans projects in Southern California.

Overview:

Under general supervision, performs difficult and sometimes complex inspection tasks. Inspects various facets of work on the jobsite and performs continuous surveillance of assigned inspection activities to ensure compliance with all applicable codes, standards, and specifications. Documents nonconformance and may participate in determining appropriate resolution. Performs work in safe manner and is cognizant of public safety.

Duties :

  • Perform construction inspections on various projects for Caltrans District 8

  • Types of construction inspections will include but not be limited to concrete and asphalt operations, drainage system installations, landscaping, construction signage, pavement delineation, excavation and backfill

  • Candidate will assist with various administrative duties including writing Daily Inspection Reports, taking progress photos, reviewing various construction submittals, assisting with claims review and analysis, preparing monthly pay quantities, reviewing project schedules, attending various meetings, maintaining meeting minutes, responding to RFI’s

PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

2-year degree in a technical discipline or construction-related field, or a high school diploma and equivalent work experience, is required

. Also requires 5 years or more of related experience on field projects, as well as formal certification from an independent organization preferred , depending on type of inspection assignment .

Some knowledge of public works contracts is desirable Construction safety training including OSHA 10 hour training and Parsons SHARP training is desirable.

SKILLS/COMPETENCIES:

Must be able to read and interpret plans and specifications and be thoroughly familiar with construction-related processes related to the area of assignment. Knowledge of English grammar and composition, the ability to communicate clearly both orally and in writing; to follow oral and written instructions, prepare written messages and simple charts and graphs. Capability to perform math calculation in order to prepare engineering calculations, graphs and charts. Proficiency with basic computer usage, Microsoft Office, Project Management Software and internet search engines (like Google or equivalent). Ability to comply with multitude of requirements as applicable to the project based on client and industry standards. Must have thorough understanding of scheduling, and the ability to review progress pay estimates and extra work bills. Must be able to recognize hazardous work conditions and take action if necessary. Ability to use good judgment and work with others is required. Requires ability to climb ladders, inspect work above ground, and work in confined spaces. Requires ability to lift up to 50 lbs (i.e. lifting materials used for testing of concrete, AC, etc.).

Salary Range: $15.68 - $71.30
