IT Data Manager, IT Data Management Journey

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the Wildland Fire Management Division Data Manager and senior GIS technical expert for the Wildland Fire Management Division, utilizing creativity and innovation to work within the bounds of state and DNR information technology policies and procedures to accomplish the duties of the position.
  • Serve as the Wildland Fire Management Division's GIS/IT coordinating, planning, and project authority, which takes diligence, detail-oriented strategic project work, and collaboration and engagement with other GIS coordinators and qualified GISS personnel within DNR's wildfire program.
  • Serve as an applied subject matter and GIS/IT support expert for Wildland Fire Management Division's datasets, data collection efforts, and applications throughout the State; includes serving as the Division's data manager, utilizing critical decision-making skills to retain and improve data sets within the fire program's purview.
  • Utilize positive leadership skills to effectively supervise one employee, which involves creating a supportive, motivating, and growth-oriented environment.

*Required Qualifications: *

  • A bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, GIS, geography, or other relevant field AND 4 years of experience with GIS/IT consultation, IT project management, analysis, design, programming, and technical support; OR an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • Experience writing custom ESRI ArcGIS-based Python programs.
  • Experience with web development (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) focused on GIS applications and familiarity with ESRI ArcGIS Online and the related field data collection mobile applications (i.e., Collector, Survey123).
  • Experience automating processes and designing/implementing relational databases.
  • Experience leading project development and implementation.
