Continental Resources Staff Exploration Geologist in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma
Job Summary
Continental Resources is seeking a Staff Exploration Geologist with a proven track record of prospect generation, play fairway analysis and asset development experience in unconventional and conventional reservoirs. This position will be responsible for the generation of new exploration prospects as well as the expansion and development of existing plays.
Generates leads and develops them into exploration prospects through the interpretation of well logs, scout tickets, and other geological data, also supports the development of discovered fields. Requires use of advanced techniques, procedures, and criteria used for carrying out a sequence of geological tasks. Formulates and develops advanced geological concepts. Demonstrates full proficiency with the tools utilized to solve most problems (routine and complex) independently. May assist in training/mentoring less experienced geologists. Requires only minimal supervision. Has extensive experience in applying at least one major specialty with impact on an asset or exploration group.
Duties and Responsibilities
Integrate and interpret multiple geologic, petrophysical, and geophysical parameters into a concise geologic model
Utilize surface and subsurface geotechnical data to generate geologic models through log correlation, cross-section construction, stratigraphic analysis, basic petrophysical analysis, and basic to advanced mapping techniques to characterize petroleum systems and hi-graded play fairways
Participate in strategic peer review sessions to present and refine interpretations and technical analysis to deliver technically vetted, high quality exploration prospects
Collaborate with a multi-discipline team of geoscientists, engineers, land and commercial teams to conduct assessments of strategic opportunities and emerging plays to develop a portfolio of investment opportunities
Effectively utilize advanced geotechnical software tools in the interpretation process
Convey technical findings through oral presentations and written reports to both upper management as well as peer review presentations
Gives technical guidance to less experienced Geoscientists
Work in collaborative multi-disciplined environment incorporating a wide variety of data from various sources to develop a team driven interpretation.
Effectively communicate strategy, recommendations, and execution plans for capital programs regarding project funding, data capture, and testing plans
Be a key contributor and leader in the planning, execution and evaluation of exploration wells, subsurface data gathering programs, and integration of industry best practices and latest technology

Required Qualifications
Bachelor of Science in Geoscience or Earth Sciences from an accredited university or college
Minimum of eight (8) years of recent experience with an active exploration and production company
An acceptable pre-employment background and drug test.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in Geoscience or Earth Sciences from an accredited university or college
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
Requires prolonged sitting, some bending and stooping.
Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds.
Manual dexterity sufficient to operate a computer keyboard and calculator.
