JOB OVERVIEW:
Under the general supervision of an administrative superior, performs general Electrician level duties at various locations and facilities. Installs, maintains, services, and repairs a variety of electrical systems throughout Weber County.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Designs, installs, repairs, renovates, and maintains electrical components and power systems including communications, lighting controls, and power distribution systems located in various buildings, environments, and locations and ensures electrical work is completed and up to code.
Inspects, troubleshoots, and conducts tests on electrical systems for preventative maintenance utilizing a wide range of testing devices.
Be familiar with and able to use a variety of hand and power tools needed in the electrical industry.
Complies with all safety standards and regulations of the National Electrical Code.
Supervises and trains others within the county on installations and repairs of electrical components and systems, including trouble shooting and repairs.
Operates and maintains equipment such as backhoes, track-hoes and trenchers.
Maintains an adequate inventory of supplies, materials, tools, and equipment to accomplish work assign ments.
Assists other trades when necessary with maintenance and repairs, construction and remodel projects, snow removal and maintenance for county properties as needed.
Responds to emergency situations during non-regular work hours.
Reads, interprets, and works from sketches, diagrams, and blueprints; maintains an inventory of commonly used materials, supplies, and parts.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Education: High School Diploma.
Experience: 3rd or 4th year apprentice in an Electrician Certification Program or currently licensed as a Journeyman Electrician, or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES (KSA):
Knowledge: Need to be confident in approved electrical and field practices. Must practice proper safety procedures common to electrical installations and maintenance including the utilization of proper PPE while performing the work. Must know and follow Local, State and Federal laws governing the installation and operation of electrical systems
Abilities: Ability to lead and organize the work of others. Ability to read, interpret, and work from sketches, diagrams, and blueprints. Ability to make cost estimates of time and materials. Ability to prepare and maintain routine records. Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Ability to perform moderately strenuous manual labor for extended periods of time. Ability to make decisions and work independently, as well as working with other individuals as a team. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other departments, and the general public. Ability to prepare acc urate and complete records and documents on all work performed each day.
*YOUR SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS *:
Must possess a valid Driver's License issued by the State of Utah, ha ve the ability to operate a vehicle, and have a good driving record.
Must receive a verified negative test result on a mandatory drug test before starting in this position and will be subject to random alcohol and drug testing. May be subject to post accident and reasonable suspicion alcohol and drug testing.
Must be on call 24 hours a day; must have a telephone. Must be adaptable to changing work hours as shift hours may be varied. Working days would include weekends, and holidays; and working hours could include early mornings and late nights.
Employees may be required to be on call for holiday and weekend checks.
Due to the nature of this position, the successful candidate may be required to complete a pre-employment background check prior to starting the position.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Must have good physical fitness and sense of balance. This position requires you to be on your feet all day, work at high elevations and lift objects overhead.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
