Under the direct supervision of the Shelter Manager and the general guidance of the VAC Manager, assess client needs and initiate agency services under parameters of the VOCA Grant and DHS Contract.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Meet with shelter clients within 48 hours of entering shelter to complete a safety plan, provide resources, assess needs and develop an action plan. Meet weekly with shelter clients to review progress.

``` - Meet with Spanish speaking community clients who request case management services but are not residing in shelter. Case Management to include: complete a safety plan, provide resources, assess needs and develop an action plan (Bilingual Case Manager).

``` - Educate and assist clients in the dynamics of abusive relationships.

``` - Make appropriate referrals to other community agencies as needed.

``` - Collaborate with Domestic Violence Victim Advocate Program (DVVAP) to educate victims on options available to them including immigration assistance and UVISA's.

``` - Make appropriate referrals to DVVAP for assistance with protective orders and CVR applications.

``` - Provide short-term crisis intervention, personal advocacy, information and referrals to walk-in victims.

``` - Maintain accurate records on all clients and enter into the client database.

``` - Track services rendered according to VOCA and DHS standards and submit a monthly report to the shelter manager by the 5th working day of each month.

``` - Give occasional educational domestic violence presentations to the general public, with an emphasis on the Latino population.

``` - Facilitate weekly Spanish speaking domestic violence support groups and Spanish speaking parenting classes.

``` - Assist with the intake process of victims entering the shelter as needed. Assist with shelter office responsibilities and cover in emergency situations.

``` - Participate in rotating evening/weekend on-call duties.

``` - Meet weekly with shelter staff in client staffing meetings to discuss client needs.

``` - Attend All Staff and VAC weekly meetings.

```{=html}

``` - Attend trainings as requested by the VAC Manager.

``` - Adhere to all policies and procedures stated in the Employee Handbook and any applicable Policy and Procedure Manual.

MARGINAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform other functions as necessary or as assigned.

TRAINING & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Social Work, Social Sciences, or Industry-related field.

``` - Social Service Worker License is preferred.

``` - Bilingual Case Manager is required to read, write and speak in both English & Spanish.

Requires 3-5 years of experience working with individuals & families n crisis, or any combination of education, experience, and training which provides the desired knowledge, skills, and abilities.

  • Must have a valid driver's license.

``` - Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.

``` - Computer literacy including MS Office products: Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint.

``` - Exceptional time-management, planning, and administrative skills.

``` - Demonstrate a high level of diplomacy, sound judgment, and discretion when dealing with clients and other department staff.

``` - High degree of energy, self-motivation, and flexibility with schedule.
