PERMIAN BASIN MATERIALS LLC Accounting Manager in ODESSA, Texas

The Accounting Manager will serve as a key member of the accounting team and provide strategic decisions to senior management regarding the continuous improvement of strategy, business performance and profitability.

Specifically, the Accounting Manager will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the accounting department, including Accountants, Accounts Payable and Receivable departments. Primarily focusing on maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring compliance with GAAP.

Functional Responsibilities

Actively participating in day-to-day management of the Accounting Department, engaging the business and operating leaders on an ongoing basis, and developing an in-depth knowledge of PB Materials operations with an eye towards identifying key financial data to help address emerging challenges and opportunities.

Exhibit a strong work ethic with the ability to take direction and work in a team setting and independently.

Adhere to Permian Basin Materials Code of Conduct and company policies.

Prepare timely and accurate monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports in accordance with GAAP.

Supervise the accounting department.

Obtaining an understanding of all functions within the department, cross-training and serving as back-up to the staff when necessary (AP, AR, and front desk admin).

Assist CFO, VP of Finance and Financial Analyst with annual budget and rolling forecasts, report on budget vs actual and perform variance analysis.

Perform and/or oversee credit card, balance sheet, and bank account reconciliations.

Oversee all fixed asset accounting including cost analysis for purchase, inventory and valuation and depreciation schedules.

Perform intercompany eliminations for multi-entity activity.

Ensure accurate accounting of debt, including capital leases.

Work with VP of Finance and external auditors to ensure proper accounting of acquisitions, including but not limited to opening balance sheet, working capital true up, etc.

Assist VP of Finance with accurate cash flow forecasting.

Thorough understanding of how transactions are processed through system and accounted for in the general ledger.

Work with external auditors, understanding of GAAP changes and communicating and implementing changes (i.e., revenue recognition, leases, etc.)

Assist VP of Finance with annual external audit.

Work with outside professionals including CPA firm, Banks, and insurance agents including preparation of all information and schedules and primary liaison for external audit.

Build a working relationship with plant and district managers to develop strong communication in regard to their financial reporting.

Earn the respect of his or her peers, subordinates, and superiors for his or her integrity, ethics, moral compass, and ability to set a standard for their leadership to follow. He or she will maintain the integrity of the finance information by establishing appropriate systems and controls.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

Review and know Balance Sheet.

Ensure accurate chart of accounts.

Ensure compliance with GAAP.

Ensure compliance with sales tax and property tax reporting.

Provide district management with advice on the financial implications of business activities.

Provide recommendations to strategically enhance financial performance and business opportunities.

Ensure that effective internal controls are in place and compliance with GAAP and applicable federal, state and local regulatory laws and rules for financial and tax reporting.

Hire, train and manage and motivate accounting staff.

Ensure credit policies and DSO practices are balanced and in place.

Ensure capital expenditures are captured and booked correctly.

EXPERIENCE/TRAINING/CERTIFICATIONS

The Accounting Manager should be a high energy, detail oriented and thoughtful leader who acts with a strong sense of urgency and who is driven for team su cess to include the following:

A Bachelors degree is required with a minimum of five to seven years in senior accounting/finance roles (i.e. - accounting manager, assistant controller) with a track record of success in financial roles, team management and expanding responsibilities.

The Accounting Manager must have the requisite skills to understand the financial drivers of the business, oversee the accuracy of US GAAP accounting, manage external auditors, and ultimately communicate well with district managers on the financial performance of the company.

PE backed experience is not necessary but is a plus. Experience in a family-owned business where the executive helped to retain local company knowledge and expertise while also establishing best in class financial processes is also a plus.

Experience with annual budget and long-range financial planning processes and managing and developing monthly financial reporting and analysis is required.

Experience managing or working in an organization with external debt facilities including bank financing containing quarterly financial reporting and covenant compliance is a strong plus.

Experience leading and developing a financial ERP system is a strong plus.

MandA experience or experience integrating and consolidating financial systems as part of an acquisition is a plus.

The Accounting Manager must have outstanding communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal.

Exceptional problem-solving capabilities and intellectual curiosity.

Demonstrated ability to successfully balance the achievement of short-term objectives (quarterly budget objectives, expense management, etc.) with longer-term strategic goals.

Comfortable with a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.

CPA, CMA designation is a strong plus.

A valid drivers license with no major violations that would exclude a person from driving for business as defined by our insurance carrier and company policy.

Ability to work in fast pace, deadline driven environment.

PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS

Candidate must be drug free.

Must be able to:

o Lift or carry up to 20 pounds from floor to 3 - 5 occasionally,

o Lift or carry less than 10 pounds frequently (documents, supplies, small office machinery),

o Sit for extended periods of time with occasional walking and standing,

o Use hands and fingers to operate computers and other office machinery,

o Effectively communicate in verbal and written formats with internal and external personnel, clients, and vendors,
