The Mount Sinai Health System Chief of Neurology - Physician - Mount Sinai South Nassau; Oceanside, NY in Oceanside, New York

Mount Sinai South Nassau Hospital is seeking a Full-Time Chief of Neurology to join its hospital in Oceanside!

The selected candidate will direct the Division of Neurology at Mount Sinai South Nassau and develop clinical services, provide administrative oversight and manage quality and safety performance metrics, as they help to expand further our growing Division of Neurology and Department of Medicine. The candidate will be eligible for a faculty appointment at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, based upon background and experience. We are ideally looking for someone willing to build upon our existing platform and create new areas of expertise in neurology.

Mount Sinai South Nassau is an award-winning, acute care, not-for-profit teaching hospital located in Oceanside, New York. Our dedicated staff serves the entire South Shore, from the Rockaways in Queens to the Massapequas and beyond. And we offer quality, compassionate care on our main campus in Oceanside, plus nine other satellite facilities in the region. Mount Sinai South Nassau is one of the region’s largest hospitals, with 455 beds, more than 900 physicians and 3,500 employees.

The Division of Neurology is currently comprised of a growing faculty, including two stroke neurologists, a neuromuscular neurologist, two epileptologists and three general neurologists, who work together in both the inpatient and outpatient setting. The hospital has achieved the Joint Commission’s gold seal of approval for disease-specific care for primary stroke, AHA Gold Plus Stroke Center and partial thrombectomy capable interventional services, moving to become fully thrombectomy capable 24/7/365 in April 2024 with the addition of a team of trained neurointerventional specialists on site. There is a very active neurosurgical service, state of the art neurological imaging studies and epilepsy platform with an EMU beginning in April 2024 as well. The hospital is a full-service tertiary care hospital, with the addition of cardiac surgery in 2025, along with many other additions to the Department of Medicine, which has a Internal Medicine Residency, gastroenterology fellowships, with the expected addition soon of additional fellowship and training programs. We are in the process of building a full comprehensive thrombectomy capable Stroke Center and Neurology Service and are looking to recruit additional full-time faculty to expand the Division’s services.
