Recreation Leader-Litter Campaign Coordinator (Solid Waste) – Marion County BoCC Marion County is a 100% drug free workplace This position is recruited and staffed with reSOURCE Government Services, not Marion County Government BoCC Location: Marion County Public Relations, 601 SE 25th Ave., Ocala, FL 34471 Work Schedule: Monday – Friday; 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM Pay Rate: $15.93 per hour + benefits Required: Must be able to clear pre-employment background and drug test; Must possess a valid and active Driver's License w/ relatively clean driving record JOB SUMMARY Responsible for assisting the department in all areas from development and inception of educational outreach programs, implementing and facilitating educational outreach programs, and performing in a mascot uniform, while ensuring compliance with all county policies, procedures, and safety regulations at all times. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS The following statements describe the principal functions of this job and its scope of responsibility but should not be considered an all-inclusive listing of work requirements. Individuals may perform other duties as assigned, including working in other functional areas to equalize peak work periods or otherwise balance the work load. Provides excellent customer service to internal and external audiences during all aspects of the tasks assigned. Assists with planning, scheduling, promotion, and evaluation of creative educational outreach programming that meets the needs of assigned department. Assists in planning, coordinating, and executing educational outreach trips, special events, etc. Assumes the persona of the mascot character and conveys emotions, energy, and enthusiasm through exaggerated movements, gestures, and body language. Performs dance routines and crowd interactions to entertain and engage audiences during events and video appearances. Encourages audience participation and poses for photos with audiences. Maintains the mascot costume, ensuring it remains in good condition and is clean and safe for each performance. Assists with the setup of equipment (tables, chairs, etc.) and/or decorates rooms/facility for educational outreach programs, special events, and activities. Assists during events providing educational outreach information. Ensures an environment that protects the health and safety of all program participants. Performs routine office/clerical work as required including, but not limited to, answering the telephone, copying and filing documents, attending meetings, entering computer data, etc. Customer service is provided by phone, in person, via email, and/or other communication methods. Personal contact occurs with other employees of the assigned department, other employees of the organization, and citizens, as well as internal and external customers of the department. Implements the organization’s guiding principles and core values. Performs other related job duties as assigned. SECONDARY FUNCTIONS Immediately reports any dangerous or unsafe conditions. Performs other duties as assigned. SUPERVISION This position does not supervise others. QUALIFICATIONS Education and Experience. High school diploma or equivalent preferred . Licenses or Certifications Possession of a valid, State of Florida driver’s license to operate a motor vehicle. Requirement exists at the time of hire and as a condition of continued employment. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, correspondence, memos, and procedure manuals. Ability to write simple correspondences. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions in one-on-one and small group settings to internal and external audiences, including the general public. Ability to apply common-sense understanding when carrying out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to exercise judgment in selection of procedures, methods, equipment, tools, or materials to accomplish tasks. Ability to incorporate all policies and procedures during the implementation of educational outreach programs and events. Ability to work directly with internal and external customers. Ability to remain calm in stressful situations. Ability to take a teamwork approach to the job by cooperating with others, offering to help others when needed, and considering larger organization or team goals rather than individual concerns. Includes the ability to build a constructive team spirit where team members are committed to the goals and objectives of the team. PHYSICAL DEMANDS This medium work which requires exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. While performing the duties of this job, the employee will occasionally be required to stand, walk, sit, climb or balance, dance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk, hear, and smell for various lengths of time . WORK ENVIRONMENT The work environment described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Employee will visit schools, parks, and other educational outreach events. The employee will occasionally be exposed to outdoor weather conditions. Work is performed on a flexible rotating work week, which may include evenings, weekends, and holidays. The typical noise level for this environment is moderate to loud.
