Senior Tax Associate

San Francisco (Mon, Tues & Thur)

$120K-140k (Stretch DOE) + discretionary bonus

Join a leading private investment firm managing nearly billions in equity capital! We specialize in public and private debt and equity securities, direct investments, and real estate.

The Role:

They are seeking a Tax Accountant/Senior Tax Accountant to join our global accounting team of approximately 30 professionals. In this role, you'll handle all aspects of tax accounting, including:

  • Preparation and review of tax work papers and returns for hedge funds, private equity funds, real estate funds, and SPVs

  • Estimated tax calculations and investor tax documents

  • Relationship management with external accounting, tax, and legal firms

  • Research and analysis on investor tax queries and tax law changes impacting the asset management industry

  • Coordinating with other departments and external audit firms on financial statements and tax-related matters

    Requirements

Ideal Candidate:

  • 3-4+ years of public accounting experience, focusing on Flow-Through Taxation

  • Understanding of partnership agreements for hedge funds and private equity funds; experience with real estate funds is a plus

  • Significant knowledge of hedge fund-specific tax issues, including Schedule M-1 computation and tax allocations

  • Comprehension of private equity fund-specific tax matters, including capital account allocations

  • Familiarity with real estate fund-specific tax issues, including REIT qualification

  • Ability to identify tax issues related to international taxes and tax-exempt organizations

  • Experience in preparing and reviewing tax work papers, federal, and state tax returns

  • Proficiency in coordinating and managing tax return preparation among multiple accounting firms

  • Strong grasp of complex tax and accounting rules and industry practices

  • Preferably, a strong GPA and CPA certification

  • Comfortable with a flatter team structure, offering ample career growth and learning opportunities through rotations and cross-training, enabling you to hone your expertise.
